Atomnation's 90th release is to be an album from long time associate David Douglas. He first appeared on the label in 2012 and now Escapism is a triumphant return across 10 tracks of deeply melodic and melancholic electronic music, with artwork by Menno Fokma.

David is a consistently high quality and prolific producer who has put out key albums like Moon Observations and Spectators Of The Universe, as well as vital EPs such as Mountain Pink and Royal Horticultural Society. He is an accomplished video editor who also edits documentaries while at the same time being an all encompassing producer. David finds inspiration in the majesty of the cosmos and the grandeur of nature and manages to capture the essence of that in his music. He has had critical acclaim from esteemed outlets like Pitchfork and XLR8R, has played all round the world and frequently has his music synced by brands like Louis Vuitton, Channel, Givenchy, and Fiat. After a short break, he is now back and better than ever in 2021.

This is an album that finds a perfect balance between heady underground sounds and more catchy pop tracks. After a serene ambient opener that soothes the mind, 'Wade' featuring NYC based artist Erika Spring (from indie-band Au Revoir Simone) is an airy bit of avant pop with a clean, heavenly vocal offset by stuttering synths and rubbery beats. 'Can You Feel It' again explores the tension between melancholic, mournful beats and synths and a more upbeat vocal that soars to the skies.

There is plenty of bright, reflective and shiny melody to ensure 'Golden Days' lifts your spirits, and a high point half way through the album comes from 'Lumen' featuring contemporary Dutch star Blaudzun, with whom David has worked as HATY HATY. Here they explore a heavenly house vibe with vocals that send shivers down your spine and have you desperate for an outdoor summer dance. Later, 'Drifting Away' is a bristling broken beat track with hyper speed drums and bass underpinning shimmering melodies that sounds like nothing else out there. After that, 'Come Alive' brings upbeat house and organic hits with sun scorched synths, and finally Erika Spring reappears on the tender downbeat lullaby that is 'Fade Into My Heart' which closes things down in stylish fashion.

This is an accomplished and adventurous album that takes you on an emotional ride through the ups and downs of everyday life, all with a delicate musical touch.

Warm welcome to @manueltur, who debuts on Lossless with his captivating Digital Fabrics EP. Expect three stripped back, warm and analogue sounding techno-ish cuts unmistakably referring to Detroit in a reminiscent yet forward thinking way.

Lossless bossmen Mathias Schober and Thomas Herb are big fans - and supporters - of Manuel Tur’s music. Naturally the excitement level was high when the guys received the Digital Fabrics demos from Manuel and even went up to ecstatic while listening to the three tunes.
Masterfully stripped back productions, made with attention to all the details and a perfect interplay of rhythm and sound. These tracks just triggering all the right spots!Fast forward this EP is now on Lossless and we couldn’t be happier that Manuel agreed on releasing it with us right away.

We also had a chat with Manuel about the creative process behind Digital Fabrics in which he revealed that at the time the EP came to life he had just added a new toy at his Islenyo Studios in Essen. Namely a Korg SQ-1 sequencer which was triggering some of his analogue synths. Over the course of a week or so those jams culminated in building the backbone of the Digital Fabric EP. By further adding some euphonic digital pads, Manuel set an antipode that’s blending and supplementing perfectly.

The kick drums of tomorrow once again begin to rumble in the smog infested, strobe stricken clubs of today. Kompakt’s Speicher series always strives to provide the dance floors with a soundtrack to grant our mind and body temporary refuge and escape. We feel it is more than ever needed considering the darkness that surrounds us all in these times.

We welcome back Marc Romboy. A gifted producer, DJ and friend that has been behind the decks as a key supporter of Kompakt’s music since the beginning. Beyond that, Marc is an astute musician, with releases on many of the esteemed; from Ovum to Innervisions and of course his own Systematic Recordings his music is incredibly varied.

They say that the third time is a charm but in this case he returns to our Speicher series again with a two track EP that feels more like a sequel that is true to the excellent consistency of his previous output. Armed only with a Buchla Music Easel, the Roland TR-909 and an Arp 2600, “Randomized” is pure techno as it tweaks and twists into a complete frenzy. Marc pays homage to the legendary Californian synthesizer inventor Don Buchla with the very trippy churner, “Monsieur Buchla”.

Number 23 from Continental Drift Records is seems to be all
about the journey. These are slowly evolving
groovy tracks, never staying totally loopy and
often being a bit sly about the direction they're
headed. ‘Perspectives Shift’, the first track and
release namesake, starts out as a floating tune
centering around the Mathew Jonson-style
wandering bassline melody; it gradually churns
thick with rhythmic action and counterpoint
chords. ‘Deep Summer Techno’ is trippy acid that
plays with time and space, maybe channelling a
bit of that CABARET Recordings spirit from
Ospovat's time in Japan. Finally, the whole
B-side is dedicated to Conoley’s re-work of label co-owner
and dear friend c_olvrin’s ‘Cryogenic Freezing Of Friends’; a 
more Chicago-house excursion, full of groove and many-textured details.
