Early Dosh.  from 1998.  never released.  Recorded and mixed at Third Ear by Tom Cesario.  No loops here folks.  I just wanted to share it with you.  this was my first time in a real studio.  Tom Herbers' old place.  Amazing room.  This is all multitracked to 2 inch tape.  the playing and idea may be a little off, but the sounds are great.  B3, rhodes, piano, drums, junk..... it was a great few days there, and this is the best thing to come out of it.....

Jess Cornelius, the New Zealand-born, Australian-raised, and now Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter, has an intense desire for personal authenticity, which is reflected in her songs as they explore womanhood, relationships, ageing and existence, all delivered through her startling voice. 

“No Difference” was written in Melbourne before moving to Los Angeles while trying to navigate everything going on in her life. The song is part self-help mantra, part blind fatalism. Its video, directed by Thomas Hyland, was filmed in a bathroom in Melbourne and features friends and acquaintances of Cornelius. 

“We wanted to introduce the water element because of its cleansing/rebirthing properties, but water is also destructive, and the image of someone wearing a white suit in a full bathtub implies someone slightly unhinged,” says Cornelius. “We wanted to expand on this idea of rebirth by showing all these women having miniature moments of self-reckoning, which is what I feel people often do in the bathroom. We use the bathroom—and the bathroom mirror—to collect ourselves, to recover, to psych ourselves up, to escape, to self destruct, to castigate ourselves, to tally up our worth, to make deals with ourselves, to re-evaluate, to preen and primp and steel ourselves.”

After releasing three critically acclaimed albums with her Melbourne-based band Teeth & Tongue, Cornelius sought out a more personal project. She began performing and recording under her own name, releasing the “Nothing Is Lost” EP (Dot Dash/Remote Control) in 2017. “No Difference” is the first new music Cornelius has released since then.

Variations In The Key Of Afterlife is the first release derived from the collaborative effort between Luke Henshaw (Planet B, Sonido de la Frontera) and Gabe Serbian (The Locust, Dead Cross, Head Wound City, Le Butcherettes, etc.). Many different descriptions come to mind when trying to put a finger on the sound they have created: Cinematic, Space Rock, Funky Avant-Garde are a few. One might even venture to label it post-prog. Variations is an instrumental journey through a digital cosmos filled with analog planets and electric stars. It’s chock full of huge drums and moving instrumentation, provided by a large selection of different instruments from Bass, Sax, Flute, and String section to Fender Rhodes, MPC, Mellotron, and Brass section. Luke Henshaw is the man behind the breakbeats from the legendary Needle Thrashers DELTA and GAMMA. A talented producer as well as musician, he has the vision to bring artists of many styles and backgrounds together, outside of their element, to create a unique, and thought provoking sound. Gabe Serbian is a hard hitting drummer and multi-instrumentalist for such powerhouse groups as The Locust and ZU. Serbian was named one of the Top 100 Drummers of Alternative Rock by SPIN Magazine. Rightly so, as his drumming is as much pounding as it is dynamic.

Three One G is in a sense, a family owned business…and basically a family in itself. I started the label in hopes to better the quality and creativity of things  that I was part of, as well as the music culture that I am part of. Three One G quickly developed into a family of artists who were all intertwined, or on the same page as one another. For me, it is the truest definition of family; people who are of the same breed and people who are from the same way of life. In the beginning, I started off by releasing music by Swing Kids and Unbroken, both of which shared a member, and were part of a musical community that I was submerged in. It was something that I was really a part of and more so, something that was obtainable, tangible, and real. Over the years, Three One G has loosely been related to a band that I’m part of, and better known for, The Locust. The relevance that The Locust had to Three One G brought amazing artists into the picture, either through meeting them on tour, musical collaborations, or other various things that The Locust was doing. This really helped to diversify the label and the sounds that it encompasses up to this day. To me, having bands under the Three One G umbrella like Cattle Decapitation, Arab on Radar, Quintron, Zs, Black Dice, Orthrelm, and so on, all makes sense, regardless of how different any artist's approach to music or their sound may be. We could all conceivably tour together, even sometimes collaborate and share members. To me, this is interesting, bringing so many new avenues of creativity, which are things that the music industry in general has since forgotten. 
The family members who currently make the wheels spin for Three One G, aside from the actual bands and artists are; Sal Gallegos (who also played in Some Girls, which were comprised of members of other label mates such as The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower, and Unbroken), as well as myself. Over the years we have expanded, not only musically, but geographically as well. Even though Three One G is below the radar of the who’s who of labels, the bands manage to grow and reach out beyond the label’s grasp, giving a glimpse into the all too interesting underbelly of an unrefined culture. The bands manage to amaze, challenge, inspire, and essentially blow minds. The labor of love here shows sincerity, as well as integrity. The family here is solid, legitimate, and is here to stay.
