The latest release on Madloch's 3rd Avenue imprint welcomes Figueras from Argentina back to the label with their "Summit EP".

Last year they made their debut on the "We Are The Future" compilation followed by 2 tracks on "Three Of A Kind". More recently they've made a beautiful remix for Emotional Tourist also on 3rd Avenue.

Figueras is a duo formed by the DJs & Producers Andy Figueras & Elias Figueras Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Two brothers that share the same passion, taste, and love for music. With their passive-aggressive sound including melodies and groove, the Figueras brothers managed to earn a place on the scene by participating in the most important events that take place nowadays.

Figueras - Walking in Circles [3rd Avenue]

The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Ultraverse to the label for his debut EP. Based in Ireland, Ultraverse first emerged in 2016 with releases via Crop Circle and Morninglory Music. Drawing inspiration from Depeche Mode, Hernan Cattaneo, Lee Burridge and Sasha, Ultraverse quickly established himself in the world of progressive music. In building a meticulous discography over the next five years, the Dublin resident continued to refine his sound, eventually earning the recognition of world class DJ Nick Warren who signed him to his The Soundgarden imprint as part of the label's 2020 Winter Collection. Now coming off the lead selection on BC2's 400th release, Ultraverse continues on an upwards trajectory with his Dopamine White debut 'Rubicon', alongside a remix from Menkee.
Beginning with the pulsating hypno grooves of the title selection, Ultraverse marries fluid rhythms with heady effects and radiant atmospheres. Evolving percussive arrangements and timely melodic accents add nicely to its mediative pulse, before shifting energy into a captivating break. Understated in nature, the centrepiece delights with shimmering arrays and a spoken word narrative, building intrigue and tension before a gentle rush of drums summons the groove for a deep and engaging finale. The companion piece 'Arabian Nights' proves to be a perfect complement with its hip swinging cadence and cross-cultural motifs. Icy pads and percussive rides add nicely to its glacial flow as the main break approaches. Tense and meditative in equal measure, the interlude saturates your senses with a transcendent vocal element, wonderfully offset with atmospheric tension, before reaching a gentle crescendo and percussive final movement.
The release concludes with Menkee also making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Rubicon'. Hailing from Switzerland, Menkee has been a fixture of the progressive music underground for the better part of a decade. Releases via Balkan Connection, BC2, Mirabilis Records, MNL and Pro B Tech Music highlight his discography, while support has come in from the likes of genre tastemaker Hernan Cattaneo. Now making his Dopamine White debut, Menkee turns in a groovy rendition of 'Rubicon'. Engaging from the outset, buoyant kicks and rhythmic pulses converge for a fluid foundation, while vibrant percussion and swirling sonics bring texture to the groove. Building an emotive narrative across the first act, nostalgic melodies and hazy harmonics unite for impassioned moments. Sitting at the heart of the journey, the centrepiece delights with its timeless appeal, where billowing bass swells anchor a cloud of melodic fragments and intriguing vocal phrases, before smoothly segueing into a heartfelt finale. An inspired remix from Menkee which rounds out an impressive label debut for both himself and Ultraverse, two artists on the rise in the world of progressive house.

Madloch’s Sound Avenue continues a strong Spring season by welcoming about:river back to the label for their debut EP. The Estonian duo is a unique collaborative project between father and son. Conceptualized by father Oleg in 2018, the following year saw his 12-year-old son Ervin join the project. Initially a clarinet and keyboard player, Ervin quickly became a committed member of the project, contributing not only to live performances but also in the creative process, writing the main themes of their musical creations. Their productions tell a dynamic and sometimes epic story that happens to be set in a dance-groove environment. Since first emerging, the duo’s fresh style has continued to delight both their fans and contemporaries, with the world’s premiere electronic music tastemakers championing their work. Having made their Sound Avenue debut in August of 2021 with a remix of Nopi’s ‘Flatter’, about:river now makes a welcome return to the label with a three-track showcase entitled ‘Three Drops of Dopamine’. 

Opener ‘One Word’ is an apt barometer of where about:river’s headspace is at, letting atmospheric refrains blanket buoyant beats and a forest of immaculately manicured percussion. The duo’s instinctive ability to craft transcendent storyboards is reaffirmed with stunning effects and incandescent fragments marrying beautifully, providing an engaging five-minute journey that is equal parts colourful and emotive. 

Moving forward and more reflective still are the pacey beats and heartrending themes of ‘Two Oceans’. A mesmerizing dance floor jaunt powered by welcoming sonics and exhilaratingly unpredictable atmospheres. Its adventurous spirit is something about:river relishes in, as the duo continues to flex their free-thinking muscles, and in turn nails that rare compositional balance of musicality and groove.

Continuing on a hopeful monochrome is the whimsical sound-art of the collection’s closer ‘Three Glasses of Wine’. Enthusiastic and upbeat, it's a composition that further cements about:river's elusive vision, as florid beginnings morph into a meditative, consciousness-expanding conversion of musical ideas. It's thrilling pulse and soulful dynamism provide a much-needed dance floor curveball for the more adventurous selectors out there, one which breaks preconceptions and made-up minds, making about:river’s music such an addictive pill to swallow.
