Release Info:
Producer, DJ, fervent music aficionado, and record collector Steve Mill has honed a distinctive sound that resonates across dancefloors. Born in Greece and dividing his time between Berlin, London, and Thessaloniki, Steve Mill weaves his rich cultural heritage into evocative melodies and infectious rhythms.

The God Given EP released 12th May on Dirt Crew Recordings showcases Steve Mill’s musical talent and hints at the enormous music collection of which he is able to dip into. It’s the follow up to his great label debut “Love Attack EP” from last year.

The title track, God Given featuring Bongani Mehlomakhulu comes out of the traps as a fully formed Balearic stomper. Dreamy ice-cream-van marimbas enter the fray and deep tribal bass completes the audioscape, setting the scene perfectly for Bongani’s vocals. Thought-provoking lyrics from the viewpoint of someone born without a silver spoon in their mouth but still with the upbeat optimism to succeed in life. “Positive mindset brings a change of flavour / Overcoming challenges helps you stay centred.” Wise words indeed from this poolside masterpiece.

Steve Mill explains: Working with Bongani was super easy and uncomplicated. I first heard his work on a Shur-I-Kan mix. I immediately loved his voice and powerful lyrics. Kid Fonque introduced us, and we started chatting. When I sent him the instrumental, I asked him to write lyrics about the struggle of an unprivileged life. A few days later, God Given was ready.

Next up is Copenhagen Ride - a deep house drumline washed in broad watercolour strokes of warm, laid-back synths. Think of a hazy dusk; daytime giving way to the first twinkling lights of the city as afternoon becomes evening.

Steve Mill gives us the lowdown: This is a tribute track to a holiday with one of my best friends in Copenhagen a few years ago. We’d blast some amazing deep house tunes in the car and travel around the city and the suburbs. The warm sounds inspired this super deep track that came out so easily, having that picture in my mind. The minimal perfection of the city would always inspire me.

Dye the Bip takes us from dusk and onto the dancefloor. This track has an infectiously catchy hook line that will stay in your head way after you return home from the club.

Steve Mill recalls: Dye The Bip came to me one morning. The lead was inspired by the Krystal Klear sound: Easy in the ear, yet catchy and meaningful. The pads and the arpeggio based bassline followed. Some big reverbs on the snare drum compliment the whole package of the track. I had a tune that you can hum and that was my goal from the start!

Ta Pass opens up and is an absolute certified BANGER! Cut up disco loop, filtered out & filtered in kick drum, spaced out synths and a cowbell. It's that simple and that blooming amazing.top marks.

Inn For Landingfully doffs its cap to the late 90's sound of France and is reminiscent of Daft Punk before they got too much money. Filtered house finesse with fully cosmic laced disco synths all over a 4 bar loop. So simple you wished you'd done it, but you didn't.

Holder Tråden keeps the simple formula as previous, clever cut up sample with a walloping kick drum and warped out vocal. One for the Derrick Carter bumpty bumpty cartel & filtered house fanatics.power house banger!

Bølgen keeps it cut up & choppy whilst packing bags of disco thrust. No stressing, no messing it's just straight up house that jacks, slaps & defies you not to groove n move.

Hetetakter closes things off with its warped & wonky house music journey. Cut up disco that's sliced beyond recognition and with just enough kick drum drop outs to tantalise & tease throughout. This is packing bags of energy & whallop! Oh and its also got a flute in there too...bonus!

Duboko Deep is a passionate collector & DJ from of Zagreb, Croatia. His interest for music started at an early age, with his mother and father collections of chanson francaise, jazz music, canzoni italiane, Sinatra, Dean Martin, soundtracks, etc. His passion begun with vinyl records of: disco, italo, high energy (?, Canadian disco, synth-infused, 80s music, soul, until he finally got involved in the electronic music & house in late 80s.
His musical selection is best described as pure, deep, melodic vibes which takes you into a “Duboko” state (“Deep” in Croatian), through his sets, you can feel eclectic beautiful synth works, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, oriental sounds, and occasional vocal hooks. His music styles are open minded. He puts in emotional tunes, and it doesn't matter whether they are old fashioned or contemporary. What is important is that they raise this emotional moment which can touch listeners through his selections. And so it has for years, through various clubs, lounge bars, on different kinds of occasions; from museums to beach shows, giving out smiles and satisfaction to his public. Rafael Cohen aka Los Latidos was born in Mexico City to Guatemalan parents. He grew up in the DC punk scene, and released records on Dischord and Touch and Go. He has also played and recorded with jazz legend Anthony Braxton. 

Currently he tours the world and writes songs as a member of Warp Records mainstays !!! and has written and recorded a collection of more intimate songs in Spanish under the name Las Palabras.

This is his second release as Los Latidos and his first for Throne of Blood. His previous release, on Jun Records was described as “a feast of acid squelches, breakbeats and house kicks” by Resident Advisor. “Please Believe Me” is built on the same foundations but expands the palate somewhat with acoustic guitars and field recordings. 

The vibe is warm and hypnotic, recalling the breezy vibes of old school Throne of Blood artists Cosmic Kids. With three jams that range from low slung acid grooves to gently jacking house underpinned by a hands in the air bassline, Los Latidos has delivered a soundtrack to summer dusks and dawns.
