OO Recordings’ fifth release is all about firsts; the first solo EP on the label and the debut release of Fleur Amser. Expect a canvas painted with a mixture of moody and bright - fit for a dancefloor or laying on the floor.

Kicking off 2023 with a true ‘new year, new me’ spirit, Fleur Amser presents his debut EP on OO Recordings. Alternative Ending consists of four tracks that portray Fleur Amser’s - real name Nestori Majoinen - pathways in music. From mellow pad-driven ambiences to dark and punchy basement sounds to experimental takes on dance music, the EP is a flip book of Fleur Amsers musical ambitions and in general tells the story of a creative soul that wanders between styles of electronic music with his own uniquely groovy step.

The release opens with a shapeshifting first track, simply titled Intro. Combining space-y chord stabs with off-kilter drums and a movement from dark to light, Intro is more than the title suggests - it’s a self-standing track that screams ‘play me loud!’. Following that, the second track titled Deep drives of with a drum groove fit for any occasion. It takes the idea of strong chord stabs but explores it from a stripped down point-of-view and leverages a strong vocal presence, courtesy of Julius Jäppinen. The third track - Don’t - is a basement trip that plays with a natural, almost random soundscape with elements flowing effortlessly. The synth melody plays on the background like a distant ghost, whilst most of the action comes from very organic sounding percussions. Finally, the ending to the release comes from the title track of the release, Alternative Ending. The final tracks reintroduces the vocal musings that are present in the first two tracks, but gives a warm wave to the listener. Still featuring the layered melodies familiar throughout the release, and the physicality of the drums, Alternative Ending manages to shift the mood just to tell you this isn’t a goodbye, it’s a see-you-again-soon.

[TA006] Ohm & Octal Industries - Maoss EP

On Skoven EP, we have two well respected producers from the Danish techno scene joining forces. On one hand we have Kvadrant, who is responsible for the legendary Tweak FM radio shows and owner of the Kontakt label, and the other hand we have OHM, an Icelandic-born producer who is already well known for his collaborations with
Exos and Octal Industries – and regularly serves behind the decks at the legendary Culture Box in Copenhagen.

Æ Recordings – the infamous sublabel of Thule Records was responsible for some of the finest techno releases from Iceland in the early 2000s. With the motherlabel on full throttle, it was ideal to revive the enigmatic junior label as well. The label was known for
bringing in fresh winds into the scene – and this latest output does not disappoint.

The release offers three atmospheric glacial dub-techno anthems – and a eternally deep dubby remix from the Icelandic veteran Octal Industries.

Æ Recordings/Thule Records is considered by many to be a pioneers in the field of dub-influenced techno music and was a starting point for many of Iceland‘s most renowned electronic musicians.
