Lobster Theremin's sublabel Distant Hawaii, which so far seems more house and balearic orientated than its cousin, was featured in our Top 100 2015 with the summery track "Bill Loves You" by Hidden Spheres. The label's second release is the "Secret Island" EP by newcomer and London-based producer Tony Donson aka DJ Sonikku, and it doesn't disappoint! The EP's opener"Land Of Sky" premiered here sets the tone with a tough beat backed by a hopping FM bass, house chords and an overall early 90s feel. This is sure to send you straight to that secret island of yours!

New french label "in Any Case" starts up with a various artists showcasing 5 producers from all around the world: Detroit producer Peter Croce opens the ep with a soulful disco edit followed by a groovy filtered house cut by german Martin Hayes. On the flip side, Pascal Viscardi from Geneva goes deep with an heavy kick on this highlighted track "Fuorigrotta", followed by "I Did This At Work" a tasty house track with an efficient bassline and subtle samples produced by french guy Malouane, G2S & Ibn Sabaa also from France close the release with an abstract hip hop joint! Coming out in mid-September!

Johannes Albert is coming out with some serious heat on his latest release on the FINE imprint. The EP “Lousy Livin’” isnt destined for lousy dancefloor behaviour.

The FINE label , who’s no stranger to being featured on Bolting Bits, is treating us to their 6th release with a 4-title EP from one of the label’s co-founder himself, Johannes Albert (aka J. Albert). If it’s a sign of anything, the Berlin-based label already ran out of stock from the sale of their 12” limited edition promo vinyl. The previous releases from the imprint also featured productions and collaborations from Tilman, the label’s co-honcho, and Italian producer Soutine. The releases on FINE have gathered a loyal following from dancefloor aficionados, as their titles showcase a wide-range of influences, from acid-house to disco, to fill up dancefloors around the world.

Johannes is an experienced and well-established producer who shows off his skills and talent on this EP. He remains true to what made his productions dancefloor successes: looped discofunk samples, heavy disco kicks and the strong presence of a funky bassline. The 1st track, “Covered Call” is a perfect example of why Johannes’s formula works. An uplifting looped disco sample track with a heavy kick and a funky bassline as its backbone. “Frisco Fun” follows suite with a similar formula, accompanied by percussions and muffled claps that embraces and bonifies the groove of the track. The third track, “Holyhead highness” is a proper bridge track when any respectable disc jockey is about to throw down some serious business, using a consistent groovy sampled loop, hi-hats and drum machine pattern providing a background beat. To round up the EP, “Duke Dynamics” is a thumpy 4-to-the-floor disco house track with added acid aesthetic bass-heavy kicks.

PREMIERE : Johannes Albert - Duke Dynamics

This ridiculously soulful Summer-House EP is the first installment by Peter on Big Bait since 2015. We baked the essence of 3 years of studio work on 12" vinyl. Amongst two brilliant solo tracks, Peter brought in two coops with some excitingly interesting producers: 
"Arpeggio Funk" is the first co-production by the Columbian shooting star Felipe Gordon with Big Bait label boss Peter Clamat. The guys met up on soundcloud and immediately started working out some tunes together. 
"She hates Getting Photos" and "Tanzflächengebet" are solo productions by Mr. Clamat. Outstanding, colorful, perfect work as usual. Last but not least track no. four is the uplifting, 90's flavored remix of an unpublished Clamat-gem by Ugly Drums and Chesney. The two guys are old-stagers of the German House Culture and well known for their releases on Kalakutta Soul, AVA, Quintessentials etc.
