Cat Power - Satisfaction (Markus Toepfer Remix)

"Darmel's House" is a new mix of 1990s rap tracks from all over the map, including well-known underground classics and never heard before tape-only obscurities. My vision was one of those hazy afternoons when we'd cut out of school early and head to the homie's house to get stoned and play tapes.  Back in the day we didn't have any boundaries to what we played, so that's how I approached this mix. It's slowed but not slopped, a little bit trippy but grounded in the realities of our time, and blended to perfection in a blunted state by yours truly with the assist of the great DJ Icewater on the cut. A limited edition cassette will be available in a couple weeks, but please enjoy this free stream for now. Dedicated to everyone from Berkeley, Oakland and parts beyond that were down for the cause from Day One.

One year deep, we’re proud to present our radio show on the legendary pirate-turned-premier-underground-dance-station Rinse FM. This Episode is a celebration of 1 year on Rinse - breaking the format slightly to announce our new band signing Parc En Ciel. A hybrid of rock, new age, kraut, jazz fusion & experimental electronic music - Parc En Ciel do not exist on social networks, choosing instead to let their music talk. On the heels of our "American Hustle" EP - we are back with our boys Jaceo & Vedic - this time on Bitten Records with our "313 (Detroit Calling)" EP.  Named after the city's area code - lyrically the track is an homage to the city's resilience in the face of constant hardships - to give birth to a musical genre and movement that has touched the lives of millions around the world. 

The flip side - "212" is not actually named after New York City's dialing code as one might suspect - but is rather the temperature (in fahrenheit) that water turns from a liquid into a gas (pretty fucking hot).  The words - courtesy of the one and only Ray Winstone - from the incredible film "Sexy Beast" - underscore that hot feeling we've all experienced in our favorite neighborhood 'sweat on the walls' nightclub. Ok so maybe it wasn't 212 fahrenheit in the club - but you get the point!
