Much love to the Windy City, but Bryan Hollon (aka Boom Bip) and Rave Curious host Joshua Glazer are two Midwest boys who can't help hold a bit of distaste for the town that, by their estimation, spawned the condescending hipster archetype.

Hollon also has some unkind words for EDM, a world he was almost drawn into, despite a catalog that consist mainly of rich and beguiling downtempo tunes. "I don't want to have a bass drop every 45 second and pump my hands in the air and all that," Hollon insists on this episode of the Rave Curious Podcast. "So as that new style of DJing started happening, I just lost interest. As soon as I started to feel that pressure from William Morris to do that, I was like, 'Fuck this.'"

Hollon is someone comfortable with contradictions. He's been releasing music on Warp Records hip-hop offshoot Lex for 15 years, yet has only featured two or three MCs on any tracks. His Neon Neon project with Gruff Rhys of Super Fury Animals has produced two "pop" albums that can't quite play the pop music game. "It's hard for me to just give in when something feels uncomfortable and cheesy."
But it's not all bitching and moaning. There's plenty of positives, including Hollon's moody new soundtrack to the film Sun Choked, to talk about. Or the time he got to party at Björk's house after his first UK gig with Aphex Twin. Or the time he DJed for a dating Justin and Brittany in Hollywood with Steve Aoki. One time a year & right after the summer season closing, i give away a unique live recording of a whole night Chez Raspoutine Paris. It's only one time a Year, and it's right in time to soundtrack your holidays.

Between all recordings from this year, i picked up the night of the season closing. After a long time spending in Ibiza, surrounded by so spiritual new friends, i came back on that Friday closing charged of sun and positive energy. That night resume as well the whole season in Paris.

So this year it is almost a 5:00" Hours Set (From around 01.00h to 6h), Recorded live from the club, during the night of Friday 28 July 2017. It contains a lot of exclusive tracks, upcoming productions from the label (Mostly from the Voyeur Ibiza 2017 album), some rare stuff, gemms from the past & some of my all time classics. 

If you always asked yourself what this club sounds like, this could be another annual Sample of it. But the experience is to be made.

Spotting a hole in his demanding touring schedule, Finnebassen made a call on Ivaylo and the Jæger mix series to lay down his first contribution to the series. A honorary Jæger resident by now, Finnebassen’s sets in our basement show us a side to the DJ producer that audiences around the rest of the world don’t often get to see. Trotting the globe in 2017, Finnebassen’s name has adorned line-ups from Brazil to Ukraine this year, with no signs of slowing down before the holiday season with a trip to Australia on the cards in December. Often the headliner, Finnebassen’s sets are imbued with a forceful energy to cater to a peak-time crowd, but as his all-night sets around Oslo’s has shown his as adept at warming a crowd to a dancefloor. 
For this episode of the Jæger mix  Finnebassen turns down that spirited energy and settles in to a more sober mood. Although he plays at a more conservative pace, the mix is still very much in the style of Finnebassen. Deep chords and  sub-bass-lines trudge along in rhythms lifted from House, while hallucinogenic lead lines trip over each other to create spartan minimalist textures. Dub progressions keep the mix pulsing along at a reserved rate from one track to the next, and particularly cold and introspective mood follows with Finnebassen playing on themes of mystique and intrigue through his selections.

F. Driving in my father’s car listening to country music.
 
Æ. What sound or genre do you feel represents what you try to do through your selections?
F. I don’t Like putting it in a box. Its a mix of House and Techno I guess.
 
Æ. What do you consider your role as DJ should be?
F. Someone who makes people dance, and expands the musical horizon of their listeners.

F. Just music I’m into.

F. Maybe the first track.

F. I haven’t thought too much about it. I came to play for an hour. I just had fun!
