This Is Trax Vol.1 – A brand new concept album series launched via the Toolroom Records sub label that showcases the spectrum of sound that the label is now renowned for. The ethos is simple, straight up club tracks, made by DJ’s for DJ’s on the underground tech house and techno circuit.

The remit of Trax has always been about both nurturing new talent, while also shining a light on producers who consistently create forward-thinking and well-crafted club music. The tracklist of this album certainly reflects this mantra - with cuts from well respected heads such as ATFC, Piemont, Pablo Say and DJ Fronter, alongside fresh names Acid Skys, Vangelis Kostoxenakis and Landmark. The unrelenting force that is Hot Creations often acts as a breeding ground for raw talent. This next release does just that with four ‘Hot Jams’ from upcoming artists Lee Walker, Pete Dorling, Neil Parkes and Greeko.

First up, young producer Lee Walker from Middlesbrough makes his debut on Hot Creations delivering ‘That Little Ditty’, which takes hold with a deeply intoxicating bassline, prominent hi-hats and punchy stabs that build to a frenzied climax. Shooting onto the scene in 2015 with his off-the-cuff edit of DJ Deeon’s ‘Freak Like Me’, which played by the likes of Marco Carola, Dixon and Loco Dice, soon gained over 1 million hits on Youtube and was finally picked up by Defected Records.

Having featured on ‘Hot Summer Jams’ on the label back in 2014, Essex DJ and producer Pete Dorling is back with another killer track. ‘Manyana’ drives with a heavy bassline as tribal vocal cuts are played throughout. Other releases can be seen on the likes of VIVa Music, Resonance Productions and NoFitState.

Also appearing on the same ‘Hot Summer Jams’, Neil Parkes is back on board the label with ‘Peil Narkes.’ A swinging bassline sets the groundwork as layers of moody synths roll out over punchy hats. Since his first release on Metroline Limited, Neil has spread his wings releasing on labels such as MadTech, Leftroom Limited and Underground Audio.

Having run for well over a decade, Intec was launched in the late 90s and in that time has featured tracks and remixes by artists ranging from Oxia and Deetron to Marco Bailey and Ben Sims. 

The new Intec release is from DJ Jock aka Stipe Koki, a Croatian artist who regularly plays many of Croatias top clubs, and on this circuit met Carl Cox who signed his first Intec release in 2015. Now on his third solo EP for Intec, DJ Jock has also featured tracks and remixes on labels including Cristian Varela's Pornographic, UMEKs 1605 and Sasha Carassi's Phobiq. A promising young talent, DJ Jock is only 26 years old, so there is no doubt that this is only the beginning of his career. Having already remixed music from the likes of Ken Ishii and Hollen, he is already building an impressive musical legacy. 

First on the release, Tension has a hard hitting kick drum at its foundation, which hammers a relentless energy deep to into its core. Meanwhile bass stabs play a game off call and response, where a variety of synths paint a tapestry of sonic textures. Lifted by the vocal sample and a euphoric pad, this fiery techno anthem is something of a beast. 

The second track OutLand is fuelled by the bassline, and with a groove like a well-tuned engine full of torque and high in horsepower. Hard hitting mechanical percussion sounds like hammers on sheet metal, making this is an industrial monster that is certainly a force to be reckoned with. When it things couldnt get any more intense, the lead comes in and cranks it up a gear for maximum dancefloor destruction.

The best thing about this producer is that every single track sounds completely different but all of them has a lot of common aspects. You can expect danceflooor tunes, melodies, groove or electronic feeling, always with a touch of class. For his Suara debut, Gel delivers 3 original raw techno tracks, full of acid taste and 909 hats. For the remix pack, Jeff Rushin move up a gear with a fat drum kick and some classic refills and Basic Soul Unit delivered not one but two huge remixes: choose between Detroit techno sounds or 808 broken beat techno.
