Fresh remixes of Blamma! Blamma!'s slo-mo, disco track 'Zsa Zsa'.
 
First up is Andy Cato who keeps the slow vibes of the original, whilst adding a slight balearic touch with the drums. The track builds nicely with a crescendo provided by an uplifting piano and electronic synths.
 
In form duo, Psychemagik serve up a funk-laden remix oozing real class. Morphed guitars and synths drive the track, providing a futuristic tone.
 
Kiani & Red D (from FCL fame) inject a little more pace into the track, with elements of vintage electro infecting this house remix. The echoed vocals in parts add a chilling edge, with Kristina Train's voice sitting nicely over the top of the catchy bassline.
 
Completing the package is much talked about Dutch producer, Eelke Kleijn. His remix has real soul and depth to it, with the deep rolling synths going hand-in-hand with the morphed vocals. Darkened breakdowns with undulating high synths add a real 'German' flair to the track.

Proudly hailing from a county that is so backward, most people's family trees look more like tumbleweeds. A thoroughbred trio of dedicated Cornish idiots have been quietly paving the musical way for their stalwart countryside kinsmen. Like the blind leading the blind the Freerange Djs have embarked on a chaotic adventure that is slowly leading to what must be one of the music industries most unorganised rises to fame on record. That said, their unorthodox methods have picked them up some noteworthy accolades along the way including 2 Mixmag ‘Tune Of The Month’s, releases on prestigious labels such as Skint Records and 470 real Twitter followers. The Freerange Djs have won lots of awards that are not really worth mentioning and narrowly missed out on some good ones too. With remix work for the mighty Stanton Warriors set for release imminently as well as a delightful summer festival season booked in including their favorites Glastonbury and Boomtown Fair, its looking like these modest idiots could be sailing the good ship Breakbeat at full speed towards some very prosperous rocks in the not too distant future……

It is with great pleasure this week we welcome Steve Raskin and Jason 'Qdup' Brown to the RIPEcast for this special throwback mix. I'll let Qdup set the table...

"When Deckard reached out to us about doing a new mix for The Ripecast, he asked if we would think about doing a Jon H dedication mix. Since we’ve already seen a few Fort Knox Five themed tribute sets by various DJ’s released, we thought it would be fun to pull some older tracks that influenced our sound.  As you may or may not know, in the late 90’s and early 00’s  Jason Qdup aka Jayclue, Jon H and Steve Raskin were in a DC area DJ collective called 308 Crew. It was named after the address of the 308 house that we all used to DJ marathon afterhours sets at, and where we all honed our DJ skills together in the Pre Fort Knox Recordings days. This mix is a retrospective of a lot of late 90’s and 00’s era tracks with a few more modern surprises that we would have rocked in our earlier days DJing. Lots of these tunes were from vinyl and were some of our favorite tunes of the era. We had a blast making it and know this mix would put a huge grin on Jon H’s face." - Qdup

Even though esteemed norwegian DJ Ole Martin Vilberg aka Omar V and Robin Craaford, one half of Dance Disorder with Baby G ( Bpitch, Eskimo ) are hardly young guns, they gang up together for the first time on "complete": a blinding cut that harks back to the time with good ol Jack was still the young buck and closely associated with uncle Electro Funk: tough beats, hyperactive claps, a jittering bass and a catchy, squeaking melody are still rattling bones if masterfully pieced together as it is done here.
