Montréal born and raised zi! is a lifelong music lover & dancer. An avid digger, they are inspired by varying sounds and styles, adapting their craft to what their ear responds to. zi!'s work with online radio show and mix series Missed Connections allows them to further explore their diverse musical tastes by curating unique and thoughtful sets from friends around the world. With friends locally, they formed the queer DJ collective Flush, which has been organizing musically forward, community centered events for nearly 2 years. zi! is quickly becoming a mainstay in Montréal's vibrant underground scene.

"When I prepare a mix, I often pick one idea and expand on it for the whole session. This one explores a combination of bass, breaks, percussion, with elements of dub and world music. This sound just makes my body dance; it has something akin to the beats I grew up dancing to, melded with the more forward thinking production I find myself leaning into on today's dancefloors. XOXA BLEND 147 - ZI!

For "The Reformer Mix Vol. 1" we wanted to change it up a bit from our other mixes that are either straight forward, or live recorded in the club. We used two Technics 1200's and recorded a longer mix session, then edited everything down, mixed in live overdubs with turntables, added vocoder melodies, and also a proper amount of shout outs. The idea was to present a highly condensed mix that still has the raw live feeling we love from playing records in the club. With more than 30 tracks in about 55 min we're using some of our favourite cuts, moving through our biggest influences from House, Techno, and Electro, mixing all with a solid base in Hip-Hop.

Relocation and regulation slowly eroded the celebration of love and connectedness.

Through distance and time they have become bitter and mislead.

This ep is a bowl of delicious fruit left to rot.
