A cover of Dream Theater's song, The Dark Eternal Night. Funnily enough, this was one of the first MIDI covers I ever made, but I've finally created a new version with my updated instruments. Most prominently, this is my first cover utilising Mix Wave: Mike Mangini for the drumming. I figured it was fitting since he is Dream Theater's now-ex drummer. I'll miss him.

Another remake of an old MIDI cover I did, this time with Mike Mangini's Mixwave VSTi for the drums. As I Am is a cool song in my opinion. In 2017 (which was also the year I saw my first DT show) they played a little bit of Enter Sandman by Metallica towards the end of the song. I decided to adapt that section a bit and put in a keyboard solo. Not the biggest Metallica fan but I do appreciate that song and The Black Album to some degree.

As I Am

Updated another VSTi/MIDI cover with new drum sounds courtesy of Mike Mangini and Mixwave. This one is the Dream Theater song Constant Motion.

I think this is a pretty cool track, but the original had a lot of Portnoy vocals that I wasn't fond of. This one's instrumental of course, so no issues with that here. Also the guitar solo has drumming behind it that is SUCH a pain to programme in manually.

This was intended as a tribute to Mike Mangini's tenure in Dream Theater, but due to how long it took to make the cover, that's kind of old news lol. Still, very happy to have finished this MIDI cover of the Grammy-winning song, The Alien.

Personally, I love this track, and the album generally. It's one of my favourite DT albums and it's such a shame they kicked out Mangini after putting out some of their best work with him. Ah well, it is what it is.

Another updated cover that I originally did a couple years back. This time, it's The Glass Prison (by Dream Theater, of course). The drums weren't the only things in need of updating this time: I tried a different approach for the wah pedal on the guitars. I think they sound better than they used to... but not great. Hope you guys enjoy!

Another redo of a Dream Theater MIDI cover I did a while back. Tbh this might be my favourite song off of Octavarium, it's a nice blood-pumping track to start off with. Definitely like how Mike Mangini's Mixwave plugin sounds for the drums here.

To commemorate the lives lost 23 years ago today, I've decided to upload a MIDI cover of Sacrificed Sons by Dream Theater. Quite happy with how this one turned out.

Once again had a chance to remix one of my old MIDI covers. This one's Pull Me Under, which is DT's most popular song by a long way. Hope you guys like this rendition, it has a couple changes here and there. I think the Mixwave: Mike Mangini plugin for the drums really adds to the sound.

Track 2-El mal

Another redone MIDI cover of a Dream Theater song, this time of the song Panic Attack. Honestly I'm pretty happy with this updated version, even though it was really difficult to balance all the orchestral elements and piano in the mix. The original version I did didn't quite feel right to me.

Also shoutout to Khashoggi on Ultimate Guitar, without the tabs that he had put together I wouldn't have been able to recreate the intricacies in the piano parts. That was a big help!

Panic Attack

This MIDI cover is possibly one of the quickest to put together I've done so far. I altered a fair amount of the drum parts just so that there's less copy-and-pasted sections, but beyond that all I had to do was update the guitar and drum sounds from the previous versions.

Very happy with how this turned out. TBH A Rite of Passage might be my favourite song on Black Clouds & Silver Linings (at least, as far as studio versions go. Live versions are a different story).
