The song tells the narrative of a woman who is complaining about her partner's apparent financial insolvency. She states that he was financially well off in 1922, but now has nothing. She claims it is because he wasted it on other women, and that these lovers will no longer show any interest in him now that he is poor. She claims that he tricked her into a relationship where all he has to offer her is "a drink of gin." She ends each verse asking why the man does not 'do right' by her, and then throws him out, insisting that he go earn a living in order to support her.

Unser Podcast Nummer 83 kommt diese Woche von niemanden Geringerem als von der bezaubernden und umwerfenden Mira. 

Lange Jahre beeinflusste Mira die ost-deutsche Techno-Szene bevor sie vor ca. 10 Jahren ihre musikalische Heimat in der legendären BAR25 in Berlin, später Kater Holzig und jetzt Kater Blau fand. Während ihrer Zeit in Berlin hat sie ihren ureigenen Sound geformt, der an endlose Nächte voller Wunder und Gefühlstiefe erinnert.

In der Bar25 war es auch, wo sich Miras Wege zum ersten Mal mit Chris Schwarzwalder, NU und Jo Ke kreuzten; daraus entstanden sind nicht nur lebenslange Freundschaften sondern auch kreativer musikalischer Austausch, Kooperationen und ein nicht enden wollender Output an toller Musik.

Jeder, der selbst schon einmal in den Genuss ihrer endlosen Sets gekommen ist, versteht sofort warum ganz Berlin ihren speziellen Sound so sehr schätzt. Warm und  hypnotisierend geht er unter deine Haut und lässt dich mit einem Gefühl tiefer Verbundenheit zurück.

Ihre Erlebnisse und Gefühle eines 2-monatigen Peru/Anden-Trip stecken nun in diesem entschleunigten Meisterwerk. Vielen Dank liebe Mira das du dir die Zeit genommen hast und unseren Hörern wünsch ich maximalste Freude bei dieser Reise.

Icona Pop and electronic duo Louis the Child have teamed up for a new song called "Weekend." They've shared a video for the song, in which Icona Pop sing as a group of youths—shirtless, rowdy, free—enjoy the titular weekend. Watch it below. "We work hard and play hard, we are constantly jet lagged and we do things at weird times," Icona Pop said in a statement. "This song is about our beautiful chaos that we think a lot of people can relate to." Louis the Child shared a statement, too: “The idea for this song was started on a cruise ship, developed in an airport, and finished with a bunch of friends in the studio. Music is a non-stop lifestyle.”

The two guys based in Hamburg bring us two original tracks that easily combine Tech House and traditional Klezmer music and will surely hit the Club dance floors from Berlin to Tel Aviv very soon. For their latest EP  'Hava Freilach' they collaborated with Maher Alkadi, who studied classical violin at the “High Institute of Music” in Damascus before he moved to Germany to escape the ongoing war in Syria. Together they show us how music can connect different cultures and countries in a very creative and remarkable way.

Tia Brazda’s sassy jazz-pop gems and pin-up girl style have established her as a sparkling presence on the jazz scene at home and abroad, paying homage to the golden era while adding a modern twist.  Her first EP ‘Cabin Fever’ burst onto the scene in 2012, hitting #1 on the iTunes Canada Jazz Chart and receiving airplay around the world.  She followed that up with her latest album ‘Bandshell’ which also debuted at #1 on the iTunes Canada Jazz Chart and was named one fo the best of the decade in the Italian press, and ranked the #5 best Canadian jazz release of 2015 by Jazz FM 91 in Toronto.  The album also hit #24 on the CMJ national jazz radio chart in the U.S. after being added to over 35 stations nationwide, and continues to receive airplay across the country as well as on CBC Radio, Jazz FM 91, BBC6 in the UK and Rai Radio 1 in Italy.  Her release “Bandshell Remixed”, an electro-swing tribute also made the Best of 2016 list on the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC6 in the UK.  Tia has toured the world performing from Vancouver to Amsterdam, including such festivals as the Montreux Jazz Festival, Festival International de Jazz de Montreal (main stage), TD Toronto Jazz Festival, Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival (cover of festival program), Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Maui Waui Festival and Bestival (UK) and Iboga Summer Festival (Spain).  

Her new album 'When I Get Low', a collection of songs of the Great American Songbook is out May 27, 2022 with tour dates in Canada and Europe in support.
