Currently based in Berlin, Evgeniy aka Cosmic Kazannik has been living in London since 2002, and stargazing to the sound of synths since the late 1970s. When not taking photos, he is found in discos traveling through space jazz progressive electro and off-orbit house.

Having run monthly jazz night Eugenesis from 2005 and being known as Mr Jazzani, from 2010 Evgeniy had a period focusing on his photography, establishing and then running sustainable photographic business, Green Lens Studios.

Yev's latest project is a two-day festival of culture and contemporary music in Kaliningrad supported by the British Council’s UK - Russia Year of Music initiative. SYNTHESIS is an exploration of the pioneering contribution of Russian inventors to electronic music through Soviet analog synth technology and a celebration of its unique style and sound. The festival will be built around a headline performance showcasing contemporary electronic music in its current state. This will be supported by an inclusive program of workshops and film screenings along with a club night. The festival organizers' intention is to promote a wider international understanding of the avant-garde and DIY esoterica of synth sound, as well as to showcase the ability of music to permeate the ‘iron wall’ and reach hearts and minds on the other side.
