Earthly Measures have been diggin’ into the catalogue and decided to breathe new life into ‘IRIS’; the sun-soaked EP from Argentinian producer Sidirum.

The original release saw his first venture into a more Balearic side of things and rightly so, receiving the nod of approval from many respected names within the scene. So it was decided to expand this release further, connecting artists from Argentina, France, Canada, the US and the UK, all with one common love of the more delicate downtempo sounds.

Here we are with a collection of fresh versions from John Beltran, Eddie C, Coyote, Léna C, Pete Herbert, Ruf Dug, Blair French, Mr Beatnick, Coyote and the Earthly Measures crew. Each artist crafting their own take on the original, resulting in a shimmering collection of blissed-out tracks just in time for the summer season.

Norwegian band Lakeshouse are back with a second taster of future disco from their forthcoming album. 

Renate's Dans is a leftfield wobbler with elements of Italo, techno, house, classical and pop for a slice of dance floor dynamite. An elastic arpeggiated bass, popping 303, descending synths and strings, plus a large dose of Norwegian wonkiness over impeccable production make this a fresh take on modern disco.

Crazy P's Hot Toddy brings the heat with a heads down, deep peak time banger that strips back the bass, adds bubbling arps, jacking drums and a dynamic use of the chord progression to take it onto the main floor.

Underground Norwegian hero Martin Horntveth aka Gouldian Finch, best known for Jaga Jazzist goes on a trip to outer space. Free jazz, techno and ambient are all cooked up into a stew of electronic psychedelia unlike anything else.

Madd Rod - Math Lab

Balearic sounds and Mediterranean warmth are the inspirations for Bruno Belissimo’s Bordello A Parigi debut. Drawing on disco, house and funk, Ottimo! is a four tracker of electronic exuberance with Belissimo’s musical ability and range immediately spilling from the speakers. Guitar strings curve around synthlines in the title piece, percussive textures giving way to the mantra-like refrain of “Ottimo!” Thick bass echoes into beaming keys for “Meduse.” Bright notes cascade, grooves melting with vocoder lyrics as classic disco tones are reimagined in this modern mirrorball medley. Organic rhythms introduce the flip. “Mirage” opens to ripples of bongos and toms as a loose structure takes hold. Hedonistic chants rise to a shimmering chord, kicks and snares funnelling the building energy as bold blasts and samples shriek with delight. “Las Piramides De Ibiza” brings the quartet to a close. Clean drum patterns support joyous notes, a machine dipped voice calling time.

Bruno Belissimo - Meduse [Bordello A Parigi]

Cat aka kidcat, is a vinyl DJ and co-founder of the label Pleasure.Patterns, is known for her dynamic blend of genres, ranging from disco and house to progressive house, trance, and groovy techno. She found her creative spark in Berlin’s underground scene, where her passion for DJing flourished. Kidcat thrives on the entire journey of music, from the thrill of digging through crates to unearth hidden gems, to sharing those discoveries on the dance floor and witnessing the pure joy they bring to the crowd.
This mix was captured at the release party for Cosmic Sound by Daniele Baldelli (ELSI). Set in a backyard in Berlin Mitte, friends and community gathered for an intimate evening on a hot July day. The intimate setting gave space for the music to unfold organically, carried by cosmic grooves and disco-tinged rhythms.

Darshan Jesrani is best known as one half of the recording group METRO AREA. (along with Environ records honcho Morgan Geist), their 2002 eponymously named album splashed down with tremendous impact and helped redefine electronic dance music. Darshan tours heavily, does great remixes, (too few if u ask me), continues his stellar work with Morgan, and is working on new material for his Startree label set to debut in 2012.

I have had the great fortune to have Dar as a close pal and partner in the Strobe Lodge parties since their inception in 2005. As a DJ partner Darshan has always brought the ridiculously good business, and a a collaborator he is consistantly thoughtful, gracious, funny as hell, and down to make the party happen. Duncan Gray (biog) : Perhaps best known as one half of the Sons of Slough along with Ian Weatherall - see discogs entry for details of releases. The Sons were a formidable Live act (see You tube) playing regularly across the UK. DG's own releases also gained some popularity, starting with cuts for Scatological (1996) Blue Black, Whole9Yards, SaltHill, through to Aquamelon (2009). Since returning to music production in 2013 he has released tracks on NEIN, Eskimo, Blindetonation, Play Pal, Rock to The Beat, plus Andrew Weatherall's vinyl only Birdscarer label. He has played guitar on half a dozen AW remixes.

I'm getting fussy these days...please email files to the email address above. (don't just send a soundcloud link please) If you don't know what the sound of this label is like, don't bother sending me stuff. I get quite a few demos with a note saying "I love the sound of your label" from producers who have clearly never listened to any of our releases.

PLEASE NOTE : 2020 release schedule now full, but I can always make room for something spectacular, or a really cool remix...
