Dans un chemin montant, pierreux, long et poussière,
Un char chargé d’efforts peinait dans la lumière.
Femmes, vieillards, enfants, tous mirent pied à terre ;
 L’attelage, fléchi, peinait dans sa misère.
Chacun suait, soufflait, tirait, non sans douleur,
 Le char, pesant de dettes et d’ardeur.

Alors, coiffé d’orgueil, de verbe et de parure,
Vint un certain hubris, plein de belle figure.
Point n’aidant de ses bras, l’un copieusement tatoué,
Il grimpe sur le bord, s’évente, et puis déclame.
Il pique d’un bon mot, bourdonne une sentence,
Parade, prend la pose, et brigue l’importance.
S’assied sur le timon, fait mine d’ordonner,
Puis crie aux tireurs las : 
« Fin de la blague ! Faut avancer ! »

Il pense, en ses discours, réveiller les énergies,
Et s’imagine chef pour trois réparties.
Un miroir l’eût flatté moins que ses courtisans :
 De jeunes égarés, épris de mots brillants,
 Des bedonnants contents d’un ordre sans contraintes,
 Des Matrones en jachère , aux nostalgies éteintes,
 Des solitaires transies, par l’amour délaissées,
 Troublées d’un feu discret qu’elles n’osent avouer.

Quand, par force d’effort et vertu collective,
Le char grimpe au sommet, la pente enfin captive,
Le Narcisse s’exclame, altier, le front vermeil :
 « Grâce à mon zèle ardent, voici le grand réveil !
Sans moi que fussiez-vous ? Stagnants, désordonnés !
 Mais j’ai su par ma voix faire tout cheminer. »

Ainsi certains, sans fait, s’ornent de la victoire,
Bourrent leur vanité d’un récit illusoire.
Tandis que les dévôts construisent sans éclat,
L’éloquent importun récolte leur combat.

Clownwave for the sleepless. A haze of synths and slow-motion beats float through a neon carnival where everyone’s smiling — mostly because they have to. Painted crowns, cotton candy that tastes suspiciously like battery acid, and laughter echoing just a little too long in the night. It’s dreamy, it’s pretty… and also deeply wrong, but in a way that makes you keep listening.
