Rodney “MC Shakie” Roussell, also known as the Official Host of New Orleans bounce music, is a Louisiana-based emcee, popular vlogger and businessman.
In music, he has perfected his unique style of “call and response”, performing throughout New Orleans Bounce genre.  
MC Shakie wrote, co-wrote, produced, and inspired several New Orleans bounce hits. Armed with the name and tagline “MC Shakie Make Em All Go Crazy,” he began releasing a series of mixtape releases, which became highly successful throughout the local scene.  He has hosted, promoted and performed in several New Orleans bounce oriented shows becoming a true New Orleans icon.  As many say, if you like Big Freedia, you’ll love M.C. Shakie.
In November 2008, MC Shakie was incarcerated for being the ringleader of a counterfeit securities operation.  While in prison he was raped and sold into sexual slavery.  He believes he was targeted due to his open sexual orientation.   He was sentenced to 10 years and was released in December 2017.  Upon his release he was interviewed for an Op-Doc by the New York Times regarding prison rape and remains a proponent for its end. 
MC Shakie wrote and published a novella which ranked #10 on Amazon LGBTQ short stories.  He also starred in two stage plays testing both his acting chops and improvisational skills.
Ever the reinventor, MC Shakie currently hosts a popular YouTube channel and has became a social media darling through his command of an Instagram live talk show, Tea at Three.  He has a large and dedicated following colorfully called the Sippers and leads their brand titled Sip Nation.   
His social media engagement is authentic, and he has engagement numbers that competing brands ten times his size.   
MC Shakie is currently in production of a self-financed live audience talk show.  He is also working on releasing another New Orleans Bounce mixtape.  Additionally, he is working on releasing his first hip hop single.  
Building his brand is forefront and that is his constant aim and drive.  He has amassed a dedicated following and understanding of social media mechanics.  Animated, colorful and ever entertaining, MC Shakie is captivating audiences across all platforms and in life.

With his recent floor-filler and self-produced tracks ‘’Kicking Flavors” and “It’s Ya Birthday”, the experienced music performer is taking his electrifying energy to the next level.
