EPM Podcast 140 comes from producer and DJ Hannah Holland. Hannah is a worldwide DJ, producer, composer and label boss from London, with releases on Classic Music Company, Crosstown Rebels, her own imprint Batty Bass and has remixed the likes of Metronomy, Goldfrapp, The Knife and Planningtorock. Having played a pivotal role in London’s alternative and queer London club scene since the mid-noughties, her electro tinged techno and electro style comes directly from the cultural melting pot of London, community, musical exploration and the transcendent potential of dancefloor. With a mix that takes in Depeche Mode, Hansgod, Majorettes, Falle Nike & Ghost Culture, Joyce Muniz ft. Kim Anh, Josh Caffe & Baldo and a host of her own productions, dubplates and remixes we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Hannah bring her unique style to the EPM series. 

Hannah regularly plays at clubs such as The Carry Nation New York, Berghain / Panorama Bar Berlin and Adonis London. Outside of clubland she works on theatre, installation and film music, as well as playing bass for the band Black Gold Buffalo. Latest scores have included Channel 4 series Adult Material and award winning indie feature Electrician. 

Founded in 2009 as both a record label and party, Batty Bass began Holland’s outlet to explore the disparate strains of electro, acid, techno and house that drive her charismatic DJ sets forward, delivering party-friendly wax cuts from like-minded producers such as Josh Caffe, The Carry Nation, Mama, Lauren Flax and Justin Robertson’s Deadstock 33s. The imprint also provided Holland with a self-determined platform for her own music, memorably including ‘Paris’ Acid Ball’, an acid-tinged anthem that continues to summon voguing sweat in queer spaces worldwide. Holland scored another anthemic moment in 2017, in collaboration with longtime friend and creative partner Josh Caffe on ‘Fade To Me’, released on Crosstown Rebels and lest we forget Hannah’s bass contribution to dark-pop band, Black Gold Buffalo, who released their self-titled, long-awaited debut album in 2018.

And to top it all off, Hannah’s much anticipated debut album, Tectonic, is coming out on Prah Recordings this year.

Bside Incoming: Third Son

We’re certainly excited to bring you another episode of Bside Incoming, this time from a prolific producer and extremely talented DJ from London. Only seven years on from his debut release the impressive quantity of his output is only exceeded by its quality. A very warm welcome for Third Son.

His passion for music has always been at the forefront of his life, and his drive to create the best music he can undeterred. His father, a professor of music, ensured his classical training began from an early age. This served to bolster his enthusiasm with a deep knowledge of the art, and would later become very useful when his inspiration for electronica was sparked by Radiohead’s ‘Kid A’.

As evidenced by a huge array of releases, and this episode of the Bside podcast, his love for electronic music blossomed. His knowledge combined with his curiosity for the experimental elements of dance music never fails to impress.
