Maestro is Tigersushi's latest discovery. After a debut 12inch and a 7inch released in 2012, the electrical duo composed of Mark Kerr (the Scottish “butcher” and lead singer) and Fred Soulard (the French “mad scientist”) just finished a full length debut LP, ready to stir a rather dull French Indie/Electro Pop scene with healthy doses of industrial weirdness and obsessive dance patterns. On the flip side, Krikor revives the spirits of Chris & Cosey and TG, the masters of Maestro in a dark S&M mix.

Parisian dance music veteran DJ Koyote has just reactivated his Supergenius imprint and the first release is a split EP featuring two tracks of his and two others produced by Brittany luminary Christophe Le Gall aka Too Smooth Christ. The Koyote sound has distinctive live feel : you can visualize him jamming over his keyboards – and having fun at it. Seine St Denis Hills is a dark house tune with an eighties plastic sheen and ominous vibe, yet it has an almost comical simplicity to it that makes it unmissable.
The same vaguely parodic but at the same time very serious sensation keeps vibrating in the second track, «Poly800 Bass», a roaming stomper with just a few elements but massive impact. TSC’s «Face Reality» is a more hyperactive affair, but shares the eighties urban music inspiration : freestyle synths and raw deep house bass are all over the place. «Arp-Emogol-Peggio» stays in the edgy, angular electronic zone but adds a mysterious touch to this honest-to-goodness EP. Those four tracks are native speakers of the dance language and manage to use it per- fectly with no need to get sophisticated, over produced or post-modern. They just make you feel the right way. Bionda e Lupo are like little you'll have heard before, a boy/girl band like no other. Synth wave is fed a line of modern alienation, delusory disco to a disdainful drum beat, house emptied and ridiculed. Rhythms are stark, melodies are as mechanical as the lyrics. "Zug Der Vogel" is sparse, vocals intertwine in an empty embrace whilst bars sparkle. "Twoi Glasza" is more playful. Bright words shimmer against sweeping strings. The past is parodied across the EP but nowhere more so than in "Die Kinder Aus Dem Park." A former classic dug out before being peppered by machine gun percussion. The stilted rhyme of "Eckstein" closes, a ballad of bittersweet images and lost hopes.
