This is my mix for 'transhumanism.exe', a virtual showcase by Postcarbon Collective through SORO Collective. With it I tried to explore the concept of Postcarbon by merging it down to my perception of what they represent and how that intertwines with my own vision of myself and the future even if dystopian. This mix is accompanied by a collage film I made from different selected media going from stock videos to official music videos by people who are big inspirations to me like Arca, Björk and FKA twigs. This will be available online soon. 

transhumanism.exe is a mixed media virtual showcase by Postcarbon Collective, a Lisbon based collective that is seeking to defy the very concept and limitations of artcraft in the symbiosis between Human and Machine; in their own words: "Postcarbon is a multi-disciplinary art collective unified by concept: A conscious experience of physical reality beyond biological limitations. As the catherine wheel of progress crushes underfoot those that refuse to move with it, TransHumanism rises among the survivors. The time to reject mortality has come. Postcarbon defies you to see AI as an extension of biology, rather than an ‘other’. As an art collective, the focus is in representing the beauty and synergy between man and machine. "The big question however is where to next? NITEFISH has been investigating how to do socially distant gigs. “I’ve been looking at bubble suits, hazmat suits, sumo-wrestling outfits.” PDF Pockethole has gone all out on the podcast, using it as the outlet for every other aspect of his art. Toke O’Drift is preparing an album and a documentary on Dublin’s independent music scene. And Julia Louise KnifeFist set up a DJ collective, mid-quarantine, called Bitten Twice.

Alongside producers Rory Sweeney and Fomorian Vein, the collective’s plan is to release a compilation and work towards getting unconventional artists into Dublin’s clubs once they reopen.

“There does need to be a threshold and standard,” KnifeFist says. “But I remember seeing one show in the States where instead of playing music, the band put Vaseline on their hands and wrestled the guitars, and I like places that give you the ability to craft silly things like that.”

And that expression of creative freedom gets to the heart of what drives the capital’s digital netherworld. It is raw, polarising and deranged, but compellingly cathartic in its mania. “The heart gets hard without something to believe in,” Knifefist bellows on his track Knob. “I set to freak the only way I believe in.” "

“Some of us had to get free, and some of us might.” 
On my debut album Get Free, I sonically explore the idea of personal freedom using techno landscapes, and visually inspired by Detroit's The New Dance show. Get Free explores what it is to actively dismantle imagined limitations, to eradicate the bondage of self doubt, to forge ahead with love and light, to liberate the body and mind. It puts the process of self discovery and owning of ones’ entire self to the forefront, with a soundtrack that relentlessly pulses and moves with intention. “Relish in those waves, we stand only to gain connection.” Once the vision is actualized, we gain connection, and ultimately we get free.
