Pins ‘N Needles welcomes Vessa for its eighth edition of Sip ‘N Spin sessions.

Vessa is a seriously talented artist who packs an absolute punch in each of her live performances. Her signature hard-hitting kicks layered with soulful and euphoric synths and percussion make her sets truly unique, helping transport listeners to a space where raw energy meets melodic beauty. Taking inspiration from EBM, Vessa’s recent Sip ‘N Spin live set culminates in a whole body experience that will leave you entranced.

Vessa is a Naarm-born and based Chilean-Mauritian electronic artist whose sound marries the raw intensity of techno with the emotive depth of experimental soundscapes. Known for her sequenced experimentation, Vessa’s live hardware performances have captivated venues across Naarm, including standout appearances at Sonder Music and Arts Festival, 150bpm events: 150% live, CURE CLUB and Hardware Theory. Her music delves into themes of identity, technology, and emotion, creating an intimate yet expansive auditory experience.

Drawing inspiration from traditional techno frameworks, Vessa’s mixtapes and home recordings chronicle her journey through electronic experimentation, capturing fleeting moments and channeling emotional energy with precision. Her recent release, Separate on LAN Records, showcases her ability to blend dreamy vocals and shimmering synths with classic drum machine rhythms, all infused with an unexpected freshness that breathes new life into the genre. Vessa has also explored the intersection of sound and visual art through her audio-visual collaboration with Rubyanna Edwards for Baseline Narrative 2024.

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

We aim to create a platform that shines a light on Melbourne Locals and international talent. Build an online community while simultaneously putting people in the room as we broadcast.

Tilt Shift has been operating in Melbourne since 2017 facilitating events at a variety of the city's most reputable late-night haunts like Revolver, Boney, Section 8 & New Guernica. In this time we have hosted & toured artists such as: Marvin & Guy, Curses, The Hacker, Tronic Youth & Timothy Clerkin


Tilt Shift endeavour to promote an environment that feels safe and welcoming, somewhere which you don’t have to wrestle with the struggles of the day.
