It is in the style of lessons and carols, with new music as well as traditional carols, and includes the congregation in both the readings and songs. ‘What Sweeter Music’ is stylistically varied enough to showcase singers of different styles and abilities. For example “O Come Quickly” is the cry of the mothers after the slaughter of the innocents, and is best interpreted by a classically trained voice, while “Lullaby” would work well with a good chorister.
