Equally at home in a variety of settings, Paul Coleman enjoys a multi-faceted career as a composer, sound engineer, and teacher of composition and electronic music.

As the Sound Director for the New York City based ensemble Signal, Paul has appeared at venues ranging from the Ojai Music Festival to the Bang on a Can Marathon and Le Poisson Rouge. Mr. Coleman has engineered and directed sound for numerous performances, working closely alongside composers such as Steve Reich, Michael Gordon, and Helmut Lachenmann.

Of Mr. Coleman's sound direction The New York Times said "...the sound mixing was more creative than usual. When the score's textures were at their thickest, combinations of instruments were deployed to different speakers around the room, creating interesting spatial effects..."

Mr. Coleman's own compositions have been performed at festivals and venues such as John Zorn's venue The Stone, the 2009 New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MoCA). February 2009 saw the premiere of his work Into Winters' Grey for soprano and large ensemble, commissioned by the Eastman School of Music's Musica Nova, premiered with Brad Lubman Conducting and Soprano Soloist Tony Arnold.

Paul is currently on faculty at the State University of New York at Fredonia, where he teaches Composition and Computer Music. He has served twice as the Acting Director of The Eastman School of Music's Computer Music Center as a sabbatical replacement, in spring 2007 and spring 2010. In the summer of 2009, Paul joined the faculty of the Bang on a Can Summer Institute, where he was the head sound engineer and also taught composition fellows electronic and computer music techniques.

Future projects include a Piano Concerto for pianist Zuzanna Szewczyk and a new work for viola and electronics for violist John Graham. Mr. Coleman is currently a PhD Candidate (ABD) at the Eastman School of Music, receiving a Ralph Jackno scholarship and two Belle Gitelman awards in composition, and holds B.M. and M.M. degrees from the University of Northern Colorado.

Since 2011 the Decho Ensemble, saxophonists Sarah Marchitelli and Jacob Swanson, has been performing on concert series, television, and radio throughout the United States and in Europe. Collaborating with composers, presenting standard repertoire, and adapting old works for two saxophones the Decho Ensemble continues to push boarders and broaden the saxophone’s voice in classical chamber music. As chamber musicians, the duo has collaborated with poets, dance companies, chamber orchestras, and other instrumentalists to present unique and varied programs. 

As educators, Swanson and Marchitelli share their passion for music, the saxophone, and collaboration with their students. Marchitelli serves on faculty at the State University of New York at Fredonia and is the Director of Instruction at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts in Jamestown, New York. Swanson teaches instrumental music for the Gowanda Central School District in Gowanda, New York, the New Horizons Band of Western New York, and Jamestown Community College. Both Marchitelli and Swanson maintain private studios at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts where they founded and co-direct the Infinity Saxophone Ensemble.

Since their establishment, the Decho Ensemble has collaborated with composers Charles Terranova, Peter Edwards, Dan Knorr, Scott Miller, Nathan Hall, David Marc Alterman, Frank Zabel, Michael McGough, Kate Parker, and Tim Bausch to create new works for two saxophones - some with electronic media. In addition to performing on series the Decho Ensemble  has presented at The United States Navy International Saxophone Symposium in Winchester, Virginia and Fairfax, Virginia as well as the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference in Champagne-Urbana, Illinois. 

The Decho Ensemble performs on Buescher saxophones built in the 1930s in the United States.

Matthew is a classically trained trumpet player. The available recordings represent numerous performances and dedicated colleagues without whom, Matthew's progress would have diminished.

Ryan Nathaniel (b. 1988) is a composer whose works encompass a wide variety of genres, including works for large and chamber instrumental ensembles, voice, choir, and electro- acoustic music. He has been a participant in many composition master classes with world-renowned composers such as William Neil, George Tsontakis, and Paul Moravec. In 2010, his work "Fragment Statements" was given its world premiere by the Boston Brass as part of their "25 fanfares" project celebrating the ensemble's 25th anniversary.

A native of Dansville, NY, Ryan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia. He has studied with Donald Bohlen, Rob Deemer, and Karl Boelter. In addition to composition, Ryan has studied voice as a baritone with Dr. Quinn Patrick Ankrum and Dr. Gwen Coleman Detwiler, and conducting with Helen Ihasz, John Maguda, and Paula Holcomb. While attending SUNY Fredonia, he was elected to the board of executives of Ethos New Music Society in 2007 and served various positions through 2011, including President of the organization in its 2008-2009 season.

As a compliment to his career in composition, Ryan also recently began pursuing work as a music engraver and arranger, along with self-publishing his own works under the name “The Music Brewer.” He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Michael Lanci is a composer and educator currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. His music is viscerally engaging, stylistically diverse and draws from a wide range of influences. Recent projects include a collection of 5 protest songs dedicated to late nineteenth century singer-songwriter and labor rights activist Joe Hill, that was awarded the American Prize along with a new commission as part of the  Beth Morrison Projects Next Generation Competition that will be premiered at National Sawdust in February of 2019.

Michael’s works have been performed at festivals such as the Cortona Sessions,  Edmont Fringe Festival, Orford Festival, Detroit Bureau of Sound, Midwest Composers Symposium and the Vox Novus Festival. He has received commissions from the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Beyond Pluck, Unhread-of//Ensemble, Klangpar2, and the Vive! Ensemble. His works have been performed by the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra, Contemporaneous, Hypercube, All Of The Above, Buffalo Chamber Players, Duo d’Entre Deux, and the Decho Ensemble. 

Michael holds a B.M. in piano performance from SUNY Albany, where he also studied composition with Max Lifchitz and a M.M. in composition from SUNY Fredonia, where he studied with Rob Deemer and Karl Boelter. Michael completed his D.M.A. in composition at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where he studied with Michael Fiday.
