Another hour from a 6 hour set at a Blk Market Membership warehouse in November 09.  Autobrennt Podcast 013 is a much later hour from that night... and this is an EARLIER hour. 

This night was really special for me and that feeling was punctuated by Blk Market Membership declaring it as "The best set of 2009 for us" in their end of year wrap-up on Rhythmism.com.

The hypnotic momentum of the night passes to the hands of DJ Three as light begins to fill sky and the new day creeps ever closer.  For forty breathless minutes we wait… until at last the sun breaks over the horizon, and a collage of verbal musings, psychedelia and ornate music fills the air.  Toying with echoes and teasing with nuance, shutters fluttering to capture the fleeting moment…a moment not soon forgotten for those who were lucky enough to be there, at sunrise on Sunday, Black Rock City, Burning Man, 2014.   And then, just as easily as we are led into that place, a whole movement of sound and energy returns the dance floor.

There are just two weeks to go now until our 15th birthday weekend and honestly, it’s been a real joy counting down the days and sharing the extended rave’s plans with you all. There’s a special feeling of anticipation building in the office, that’s for sure; and with a line up made up of artists who have been part of the story sinc 1999 there’s a definite feeling that something extraordinary is about to take place right here in EC1 soon.

Out of a cast of artists who have been a big part of what we do over the years, Three is set to join in on the celebrations. First playing here back in 2001 he’s been a firm part of the family ever since and pretty much as soon as his booking was confirmed for the birthday weekend he sent over a mix from his personal archive recorded off the back of a fabric experience - inspired by one of his more recent party sessions here in Farringdon.  

A longstanding talent of the US underground, as a DJ Three’s held residencies at NYCs Twilo, Cielo (Robots), Love and Blk Market Membership, as well as Florida's legendary Simons club but he was also responsible for the A&R for Hallucination Limited (a limited press offshoot of seminal Florida label, Hallucination Recordings). These days he’s continuing to impress his richly textured, electronica skewed (yet always dance evoking) DJ sets across our planet and he’s about to embark on a new label venture: a refreshed vision for Hallucination for 2014. So alongside presenting this incredible set recording and providing a vision into the vibe of our party space, we took the opportunity to catch up with Three to talk future plans and to look back over our shared memories.

Hailing from Pittsburgh, and growing up in the fertile period of post punk, industrial and early house and rave sounds, Three has held residencies in Florida, Twilo in New York, and regular spots for Fabric in London and the legendary Wicked parties in San Francisco. The sunrise on Sunday morning after The Burn was perhaps the coldest I'd experienced at Burning Man.   By the time I went on at 7am only the slightest hint of the sun's warmth began to grace us, but the effect was immediate.  My instincts steered me into an uplifting, psychedelic house sound and the vibe was as loose and festive as one could imagine.  Playing out there in Deep Playa on the Robot Heart bus never fails to be one of the most unique DJ experiences I've known.

Here's an hour long live recording of from a very special "Sup3fr3q" warehouse party with Mr. C in Dallas, Texas in October 2011.   I submitted the mix to the monthly Proton Radio show Circular Sound Radio for it's January 2012 installment.
