Celebrate

My song is about the great figure of Brendan Behan, an Irish writer. I composed the text first, after reading all his books. I wanted to combine the acoustic sound of the Irish tradition with the electric sound because Brendan was definitely a Rock and Roll character. Everything always seems so much clearer in hindsight. The decisions we should have made are obvious, the people and things we should have avoided... hindsight is perfectly clear. In the moment though, it's a virtual reality because we don't know the future. We don't know that a pandemic will sweep the globe, or that our data will be mined, or that things will just be, not quite right, that regular service transmissions will be disrupted and that even the most beautiful things will be seen through a lens tainted by fear and misinformation. We should have seen it; we should have known, because hindsight's always 2020!

Intro track for my album, 2020 Hindsight. This was my first go on Cubase. I haven't done home recording since using my old Fostex 4-Track tape recorder in about 1990, so this was a lot of fun to do. It was made using all virtual instruments.

My first album, 2020 Hindsight released on the 28th of February, 2022 and my second album, at this stage tentatively called, Zoology, is currently in the demo phase and being worked on as part of the Bachelor of Creative Technologies (Audio Engineering) degree being done through JMC Academy in Melbourne.
