A song I wrote about the refugee crisis. 'Marhaba' means 'Welcome' in Arabic.

I'm not going back to my own country
It's where I was born and it almost killed me
And I'll miss the smell of the orange groves
But hello apple blossoms and the not-so-lucky cloves
And I travelled hard in order to survive
Now I feel unwelcome but it was my only life line

You said you needed more time to grant my asylum
But can't you see I'm a human just like your mother, just like your prime minister
Would you understand if you spent a day in my shoes?

Well I'm not going back to my holy land
Did you see that baby boy washed up dead on the sand
And I know it's hard to trust these dark eyes
I swear I'm a good man just running for my life
And is it so hard to welcome open armed
If you came to my home I'd tell you 'Marhaba'
