A week today Jesse Rose and his Play It Down imprint will head to our Farringdon locale to takeover Room One with its party banner, Community. The date is part of its year long pursuit to showcase the breadth of the label which will be amplified this November when their upstanding debut compilation Play It Down Presents Community will be released. Curated by the collaborative force of label boss Jesse Rose and affiliate Oliver Dollar, the forthcoming compilation will feature an array of original and exclusive tracks from the label's multitude of talent.

So, with the event only a mere seven days away, the team over at Play At Down have kindly given us an exclusive five minute mini-mix to host right here giving us not only a pretty prevalent preview of the compilation but also a sweet taster of what's in store come Friday night.

Play It Down Presents Community Mini Mix

Taking deep progressive rhythms and wrapping them in a pair of wayfarers; Nickelson creates musical narratives influenced by celluloid visions of the 80’s using modern production techniques. A Northern-Brit now living in the US, @nickelsonmusic absorbs and synthesizes his diverse musical and environmental influences.

The Children of Saturn EP was made with a Jetsons style space-age nightclub in mind. From the twin sunrise vibes of the title track to the sleaze and rousing chord builds of "Pick Up," and the tight frenetic energy of "Slunksgiving," the EP embarks on a dynamic journey through synth-laden landscapes.

Accompanying the EP is a remix of the title track, "Children Of Saturn," courtesy of @alwaysfriendsmusic, the new solo endeavor from Brad Eller, one half of the deep house duo Glass Slipper based in Austin, Texas.

The Sol Selectas family expands to Moscow Russia, with a debut EP from Zakir. 
The titles "Ruhi" and  "Meree Aatma" translate to the same meaning: "my Soul". These words are also terms of endearment for a person's lover, and Zakir tells the story of two Oriental love stories.  "Ruhi" is an Arabian tale with a magical oud, while  "Meree Aatma"  is an Indian romance with an enchanting flute.  The live instrumentation  blends beautifully with warm bass and arpeggios for an irrisistable groove. For the remix,  Just Emma from Under Your Skin Records, strips down the original "Ruhi", creating a deeper slow track of beautiful Arabesque techno. Sol Selectas label head Sabo transforms "Meree Aatma" into a percussive workout with lush strings and sitar for serious dance floor momentum. The artwork by Helia Jamali captures the spirit and soul, of the female love and energy we hear in the music.

Hey! Here is our remix of Anaximander from our swiss friends Ioanis @ioanis & Don Son @donniemusic. To produce this remix we teamed up with Julien Philippon, a talented sitar player from Marseille. We spent a beautiful afternoon last spring recording him playing his sitar. It was the first time we had to record such a complex & full of harmonies instrument. We would like to thank him for this rewarding experience and are glad to present the final production to you!
PS: This track is part of the Centaurus EP, out on Wildfang Music @wildfang-music.

RELEASE NOTE
Centaurus. Not merely a constellation of the southern hemisphere, emitting a harsh light into its surroundings, but also a combination, unbeding and obvious, a unit of diversities, being reflected by the centaurus.
The three alchemists acting deep and mysterious. Alerting horns calling, while divining voices lead to the path lined with bells.

Lars Neuberts version mirrors an even more mythtical image. A symbiosis between analog complexity and dynamical synthesism, which is resulting from a dramaturgical creation.

Anaximander, a philosophical journey, stepping through dunes while leaving storms behind. A wonderful, yearning and oriental sounding voice pulling you deeper and deeper into its captivation. While this spherical drama is spreading itself you’ll find a suction developing inwards more and more.

The two extraordinary musicians Pandhora and their intstrumentalist for this piece, Julien Philippon, represent their interpretation in a even more ethnical character. Its driving potential is forming a second act, a continuation of the drama in a new setting. Extremely hypnotic organic whipping through the tight alleys of the bazar, accompanied by smell of oriental spices.

I play all kinds of house music, whether it be progressive, funky, latin, tech etc etc., but for the last couple of years I've been focussing on slowing things down (I think it comes with age!) and enjoying the music for what it is. Now I just play for fun, so no pressure and I just listen and appreciate.

The Vedas (/ˈveɪdəz, ˈviː-/; Sanskrit: वेदः vedaḥ, "knowledge") are a large body of religious texts originating in ancient India. Composed in Vedic Sanskrit, the texts constitute the oldest layer of Sanskrit literature and the oldest scriptures of Hinduism.
There are four Vedas: the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samaveda and the Atharvaveda. Each Veda has four subdivisions – the Samhitas (mantras and benedictions), the Aranyakas (text on rituals, ceremonies, sacrifices and symbolic-sacrifices), the Brahmanas (commentaries on rituals, ceremonies and sacrifices), and the Upanishads (texts discussing meditation, philosophy and spiritual knowledge). Some scholars add a fifth category – the Upasanas (worship). The texts of the Upanishads discuss ideas akin to the heterodox sramana-traditions.
Vedas are śruti ("what is heard"), distinguishing them from other religious texts, which are called smṛti ("what is remembered"). Hindus consider the Vedas to be apauruṣeya, which means "not of a man, superhuman"[15] and "impersonal, authorless," revelations of sacred sounds and texts heard by ancient sages after intense meditation.
