A few months back the Helmholtz Resonators released their cover version of a long lost 80s pop song they found on a computer magazine cover tape.
It was a typically 80s flavoured positive pop song inspired by a certain Rick Astley.

The 50th anniversary approaches and Time Dilation Unit are launching their own space mission – the Trans Lunar Injection EP to celebrate

New wave space rock psychonauts Time Dilation Unit are sending acid house space waves throughout the universe. The perfect complement to any space mission. 

Almost Like a Powder (Base on the Moon) details the experience of those first US astronauts touching down on the moon’s surface using audio from the actual NASA recordings. The space cadets are amazed at how beautiful the base of the moon is.

Psycho Pterosaur remixed by Pete Warren sounds like Primal Scream working on the Drive film soundtrack with Andy Mackay from Roxy Music in zero gravity; big synths, trippy drums and screaming sax.

Trans Lunar Injection is the musical equivalent of taking off in a space shuttle trying to escape the gravity well of the moon and return to Earth.

“Roll up, Roll up! Get your tickets here! Come bear witness to the incredible spectacle of an elephant being put to death by means of electrocution!”
Such words would seem unbelievable to us now. The amazing tastelessness of condemning an abused elephant to death combined with filming the execution for the entertainment of the public at a New York theme park. In actual fact it was controversial in 1903 too. The American Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals managed to stop Elmer Dundy from hanging her at least.
Topsy’s story is one that certainly should have shamed any person involved in her turbulent life and painful death, especially in a part of the world where we like to believe a higher degree of ‘civilisation’ might be expected. This is precisely the sentiment that moved Time Dilation Unit to highlight her plight for their 6th single release. The sense of indignation still so strong after more than a century (117 years precisely as of January 4th 2020)
The bands have often mixed historical characters and modern phenomena to spin a yarn (Oliver Twist-Superstar DJ for example) however, the tone of this track is understandably darker.
“Maybe because the emotions are so powerful, so dramatic! I could never imagine myself going to the colosseum in Rome and baying for blood or going downtown to catch a public execution. But people used to do exactly that- and in their droves!” remarks keyboard player Jonny who first conceived of the track.
“Because of this we are releasing the song to raise awareness of our belief that the human race can be cruelty-free and ask anyone reading or listening to visit the Tusk.org website and find out how people are helping elephants in their natural habitats amongst other conservation initiatives and donate or get involved!” adds drummer James.
Topsy the Elephant will be available from 21st February on Wormhole Records with a very limited-edition CD for any collectors
