A one-of-a-kind hip-hop producer steps up.

Although Guillermo Scott Herren has released music under a plethora of different names in his time - including early work as Delarosa & Asora, the drone-informed group Risill, his folk-influenced Savath & Savalas project and the exceptionally titled Diamond Watch Wrists and Piano Overlord - he's best known for his groundbreaking records as Prefuse 73.

Herren isn't known for speaking publicly about his work, but he recently opened up to Laurent Fintoni in his most revealing interview to date, talking candidly about how early Prefuse records like One Word Extinguisher "changed the face of what kids are doing now" and the knock his confidence took when Warp dropped him after eight albums.

Still, his vigour's back now: he'll be releasing new music throughout 2015, and his FACT mix - titled Themes for a 2005 SAAB (9/3 Wagon): A Commuter's Lament - features three unheard new Prefuse tracks (two of which will feature on a new EP due in July, Every Color of Darkness), as well as music by Obey City, Nils Frahm, De La Soul, Flying Lotus and more.

 you can hear this mix at SolidSteel.net . Releases followed on Rush Hour, Peacefrog and Delusions of Grandeur and now after a 3 year break, he's back on Aus Music with his new Honey Rocks EP and he told us;
"'Jump Up Get Down' is a club oriented mix I laid down at Studio 2, our artist space in Brooklyn. I wanted to capture some new energy following a great weekend at Detroit’s Movement festival and several months of DJing in NYC with my radio cohorts from Hit It & Quit It (Henry Maldonado aka Son of Sound, Private Panther, and NZ’s finest Frank Booker). Watch out for new heat from Son of Sound, Jamal Moss, Kenny Dope, Kink, Black Noi$e, intermingled with some lesser known Detroit classics and fresh favorites. I used Serato DJ to mix and execute some basic edits and chops (using Slicer, FX, key shifting) plus broke out the disco box for some extra frosting. Its just about 14 years to the day since my last appearance on Solid Steel, sorry for the wait... Great to be back for a sequel!"

On June 10th, 2016, clothing company Claymore Minds invited Aloha Got Soul to spin records for the launch party of their "Heavy Mellow" T-shirt series, hosted at About The Goods in Honolulu.

We jumped at the opportunity, embracing the theme "Heavy Mellow" to curate a unique selection that showcases the seriously sublime soundscape of Hawaii's musical palette: new age and folk from the 1980s; psych from the 1970s; hip hop from the 1990s and 2000s; funk and soul from the 1970s. Bristol-based producer Admin (@adminuk) has rapidly cultivated a discography of next-level, eccentric sample-based productions over the past few years. The sources for these productions are largely sweet, dusty rare grooves from jazz, soul and disco cuts. After some early work with Futureboogie, Admin had a bomb run in 2015 and 2016, dropping highly acclaimed EPs on Boogie Cafe, Sleazy Beats, Omena Record  and Kolour LTD in addition to contributing two different tracks to Bristol label Banoffee Pies' highly sought-after Limited Series. Perhaps the most unique aspect of his run is the implicit patience and quality control involved. Admin does not just crank out whatver's clever, but rather maintains a steady but selective release pace. 2017 seeks to continue this run for the Bristol man, and he's started things off with a soon-to be-released remix of Chezz' "Bossa" for Boogie Cafe and has another dope remix in the pocket for a certain Secret label (I can't say much more than that).

Aside from production, Admin is also a regular figure in the Bristol scene via his party Slix Disco, which has played host to such names as Marcel Vogel, Mister Saturday Night, The Revenge, Mark Grusane and Eddie C.

@the-revenge, Scottish-born, Copenhagen-based purveyor of fine grooves and one half of @6thboroughproject serves up an hour of his most supremely chuggy slo-mo disco flavours for us. Languid grooves for sticky nights.

*How would you describe your sound?*

Eclectic I guess. I'm a lover of music in general so I gravitate towards anything with emotion that moves me. That's the framework really - and my production and sound flexes around that regardless genre.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*

Many things are the seeds of inspiration for me, not just music. It can be films, experiences, feelings ... they are as important as musical influences which stretch across the genres. I love great sounding records from bands like Steely Dan or Earth, Wind & Fire ... but equally love dirty sounding records from people like Moodymann or Gangstarr.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

I planned to do something across the bpm spectrum but didn't quite realise how much stuff I had done! So I stuck to a slow, chuggy groove featuring some older tracks I'd been involved in over the years. I've always loved that sort of tempo for starting a night off, and although I play a lot of house sets these days I always relish playing this sort of groove if I get to kick the party off.

Since his 2007 album Supersonic Revelation & his worldwide acclaimed dancefloor hit Soul Fever, Simbad has been constantly traveling the five continents entertaining delighted clubbers with his super energetic dj skills or producing and recording various artists from many different genres including deeper Dubstep don Mala (DMZ), UK Hip Hop star Roots Manuva, Cuban songstress Dayme Arocena, Detroit House producer Kai Alce, Berlin-based deep Techno artist Fred P,  Seun Kuti from Afrobeat’s most famous family, Brazilian superstar artist/actor Seu Jorge and being production mentor for the king of cool, radio DJ Gilles Peterson (who made him one of the residents at his Worldwide Festivals).
