While good ol’ Mr S’s first release was s̶e̶m̶e̶n̶a̶l̶ seminal in the funky breaks scene, he’s spent the past two years honing his skills, style, and bone to produce these five tracks so undeniably funky that dance floors around the globe are about to blow their load.

You have received an invitation, to a soiree at Frankee’s Pad. You approach a modest residence. It’s a quiet neighborhood. You ring the doorbell and the tranquil environment changes drastically….

As you walk through Frankee’s door you're blinded by Neon Flashing lights, mirrored floors and no end of seductively clad females. Frankee creeps through the fog machine nodding furiously while keeping low to the ground. Pimp cup firmly grasped in his left hand, frothing with Victoria Bitter that's shivering from bass tremors. He’s even trained a Kookaburra to do Lil Jon impersonations!

Now we’ve set the scene, let’s delve into the delicious web of intrigue that is:

Frankee More Yeah!

We kick off the proceedings with a tasty sax sample where you could be forgiven for thinking you were tuned into Jazz FM…These thoughts are soon crushed when Frankee’s signature bass licks come crashing through accompanied by Phoenix’s word play. Following up on hook duties is the man with more honey in his voice than a bee hive E.C. Who sprinkles sweet melodies to ensure under garments are thrown with precise aggression as Frankee cranks up the pace with more neck snapping synths.

Down Funk

The intro crackles make you think the speakers have blown, but never fear! There are serious vibes afoot! Frankee has cooked up another dope slice of bass driven madness. Bringing the tempo down, while cranking up the synths to deliver an instrumental banger that could accompany an end of level boss as well as a packed dance floor!

Who Got Da Funk

Things are getting out of hand! Frankee’s Bandicoot has picked up a guitar and the Kookaburra has moved onto to DJ Kool impersonations! All good, our Ozzie golden boy is on hand to press record! On this one, Frankee delivers a fresh mid-tempo track that’s already gift wrapped for the clubs. Keeping his signature bass stabs present he delves into more classic sounding bass and guitar licks to keep the heads nodding.

Aw Yeah

It’s time for the last dance! Frankee tricks you into a slower pace before melting your face! Neck snapping synths boomerang in and out of saxophones and other delightful elements. Just as you think it's reached its peak, you're served a bass switch up that will guarantee tinnitus for lent!

“It’s on like that!” Projected from Mark Curry’s vocal cords during 2001’s rap hit “Bad Boys for Life.” Well…. Scoot along Sean Combs. @crashparty are wielding their sampling sticks, have borrowed Mark’s one liner under a new guise “Paul Spicy” (for copyright reasons obviously) and are moving into the neighbourhood to throw their own barn dance! Find them in Grandpas wheelchair at the deep end of the swimming pool, high on Aloe Vera cooking up synthesiser sounds that’ll make Black Rob shriek Whoa indeed!

Kicking off the Shindig is the title track “It’s on Like That.” You can expect the standard shenanigans from the boys as they bring rumblings and growls from Ableton perfectly alongside guitar licks, drum fills, heavy kicks, snares and bass. This track is an absolute belter.

Keeping to their signature sound, they bring Natty Speaks along for the ride on “What You Come to Do?” Well, it looks that they came to Bruck up the party! CP & @nattydefcon tempt you in with a more relaxed vibe, but once they have you in their clutches, they crank it to 200 guaranteeing a mosh pit wherever this is played. This is a solid Collab with the perfect vocal content from Natty.

Up next… “Funk It Up” Doing what’s scribbled on the can! This 120-bpm gem is brimming over with funky guitar’s, fresh horns and a delicious bass line that transforms into some tasty growls while remaining an accessible party joint to all listeners.  

Slamming hard on the tail of this EP is the remix competition winner @swiminc This gentleman stepped up to the challenge of remixing “Funk It Up” and surfaced from his den victorious with this Fresh to Def take on CP’s original. Darkening it up a bit with some serious Synth action while paying homage to the OG, this is how a remix should be handled.
