＊By the way, it's Ray, not me, who makes the chord backing that takes the rhythm with the wah pedal, the thick chord stroke with the flanger, and the pick scratch that rubs the wound strings with the pick.  Please listen to Ray's work and check it out.  From the beginning, Ray brought a sound that wasn't normally "suitable" for this piece.  The charm of this free and open work is exactly what Ray created.

Over the last few months, we have been exposed to a lot of media coverage. A man who lived and worked with his family in Poland returned to his hometown of Lviv with his family. "I can't stand to see the destroyed city anymore. I want to regain the beautiful Ukraine," he said. "It's a beautiful country, Ukraine," said one woman proudly. She said, "It has been destroyed and polluted, but we will definitely regain beautiful Ukraine."

When the Ukrainian people talk about "Ukraine, a beautiful country", there is a vast sky and land. As I watch the news of the tragedy, I find that we are more encouraged by the strength of the people who are ready to rebuild the country.

Initially, I was planning to work on another work by Ray, but when I listened to this song again, I noticed that "the sky" appeared in the refrain part. I know the lyrics of this piece deal with a different theme, but as I hummed the refrain, I felt that it could be a "fighting song" for me to move forward with the Ukrainian people. .. The target of support is the Ukrainian people, and I myself. I secretly thought that I wanted to make it one of the "cheer songs" for everyone, who are struck by this unreasonable invasion. And I decided to put my guitar on this song.

In addition, "Lillithe / Paploviante", including the sound source that Ray seems to have used in this work, should be called our great pioneer in that field as well. They have produced a huge collection of works using Vocals' Audio-Samples as the theme. At that time, I would like to note that they are experts who have mastered the source and lyrics of Samples by clearly stating them each time. The creators who inherit the method will be able to learn from the various usages of Samples to the usage rules by keeping in mind the reference of the works they have accumulated. It will be a great ally for each successor as they open up the future beyond SoundCloud.

Their enormous collection of works teaches us a lot. I would like to express my deep gratitude to them again for that.

This song is the opening track from my new album with the Littoral Drift.  Josh Peters https://soundcloud.com/jdylanp was gracious enough to sit in and play on these tracks. His drumming is unique, stylish, and passionate. He brings a lot of flavor to every song on this new album. During recording, I gave him little direction and told him I wanted him to feel total freedom to explore the tune and the vibe. It inspires his playing. We mixed the album together and decided to call the new band The Littoral Drift. The Littoral drift, or longshore sediment transport, is the term used for the longshore transport of sediments (mainly sand), along the upper shoreface due to the action of breaking and longshore currents.

Ever since my personal discovery of the writings and musings of Terence McKenna in the mid 90’s I have been both fascinated & amused by a hypothesis of his that some have referred to as: The Stoned Ape Theory.

The Stoned Ape Theory: Pseudoscience or Psychedelic Origin of Modern Man?

Did early humans accelerate evolution by tripping balls on psychedelic mushrooms? One psychonaut ethnobiologist says: absolutely.

Let’s set the scene: 100,000 years ago, in the age before recorded history, our early hominid ancestors started abandoning the forests and traveling across savannahs. As they foraged in new environments, they began evolving faster, cleverer brains that eventually tripled in size. How did they accomplish this? One theory suggests that they unknowingly added psilocybin to their diet and tripped their way to high-level consciousness. 

The Stoned Ape Theory is a hypothesis by one of America’s most influential psychonauts, Terence McKenna. With knowledge of ecology, conservation, and shamanism, McKenna united his interests in his study of psychedelics. McKenna earned his degrees from the University of California-Berkeley’s Tussman Experimental College, and his extensive writings served as some of the West’s first exposure to the psychedelics DMT and ayahuasca. 

Though he died in 2000, McKenna’s lifetime of advocating for the exploration of altered states of mind still influences modern psychonauts today. The Stoned Ape Theory is only one way in which he attempted to shift the world’s view of psychedelics.

No other Australian band has ever impacted on international music in such a subversive fashion. This is a band that exists within itself and outside of itself, generating a massive (and massively influential) body of work.
Mick lives in Melbourne where he has built his own studio space, developed a fine reputation as a visual artist and released the Blue Trees album alongside the occasional Tren Brothers release. Jim is based out of Brooklyn but endlessly tours the world, recording and/or performing with the likes of Cat Power, Bonnie Prince Billy, Nina Nastasia and PJ Harvey. Warren resides in Paris, though is regularly to be found touring with the Bad Seeds and Grinderman or working with Nick Cave on soundtracks for such films as The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Proposition and The Road.He recently made his acting debut in the film Médée Miracle, alongside Isabelle Huppert.
Dirty Three’s live appearances over the past few years reflect the band’s standing on the international stage. All Tomorrow’s Parties invited them to curate a three day event in the UK, and the band has also played at ATP festivals in Japan, Australia and the USA.
However, all of this frantic creativity and activity is now merely an exotic backdrop to the release of the new album Toward the Low Sun. A return to the mothership was inevitable. There is a certain magic that can only be invoked when these three elements are brought together. Nothing else sounds like the Dirty Three. They are one-off phenomena. As Warren Ellis says: “There is a dialogue within the group that we are all still keen to explore”.
Toward The Low Sun is not a cosy, nice-to-be-back, return to the comfort zone. There is an energy and a raw excitement evident from the first electrifying opening moments through to the album's finale. In Warren’s words, “Dirty Three has always been about the way we play together and feed off each other. We wanted this one to be a return to the more improvised and instinctive approach of the earlier recordings”. And indeed, for all their incredible music of the past, the Dirty Three have never seemed more relevant.
Toward The Low Sun is produced by Casey Rice and Dirty Three and was recorded in Melbourne at Head Gap studios and mixed at Sing Sing.
