Globally respected drum and bass collective, Black Sun Empire aka Milan Heyboer,
Micha Heyboer and Rene Verdult just released their fifth studio album “From The
Shadows” (Oct 15th 2012) 

Black Sun Empire represents the finest in dark and tech fuelled dance-floor drum &
bass. Since bursting onto the scene back in 2000, they’ve continued to develop their
own unique style and sound, releasing numerous singles as well as four full-length
LPs and establishing themselves as leaders in the field. With their impressive DJ
skills and inspirational productions, Black Sun Empire has reached far beyond their
native Holland. They’ve toured around the world, with highlights including
Glastonbury and numerous other festival appearances, and continue to build on their
growing reputation as some of the most exciting and consistent performers in the
scene.

“From The Shadows” is a 100% Drum and Bass album. This masterpiece is the follow up
to the hugely successful 2010 'Lights And Wires' LP that demonstrated their
versatility across tempos whilst still staying true to their own sound. With “From
The Shadows”, containing twelve original tracks aimed for the dance-floor, BSE
delivers the ultimate Drum and Bass experience. Black Sun Empire's sound is as
unmistakable as it is without compromise; a combination of dark and impressive
themes, vocals, tough electronics and memorable melodies. Collaborations with
Noisia, Audio, Foreign Beggars, State of mind, Inne Eysermans (Amatorski), Rido,
Thomas Oliver, Youthstar and N.Phect showcase their expanding horizon.

It's My First Time Here is a brand new 6 track EP which offers the listener a valuable insight in to the ingenious mind of Tinlicker, not to mention he gives a brief introduction and taster of things to come. Tinlicker is the exciting new techno/progressive project from Micha Heyboer, member of internationally renowned drum and bass collective Black Sun Empire. Black Sun Empire burst on to the scene in 2000. Hailing from Utrecht, The Netherlands, the act is a three-piece consisting of Micha Heyboer, his brother Milan and Rene Verdult. The trio has released five full-length EPs, multiple singles and performed at practically every major music festival the world has to offer, sharing their unique brand of DnB to a committed international fanbase.

French DJ and producer Mat Coast has found himself a sound. Obscurity will be a concept of the past when his High Intensity Records debut EP, Northern, hits the streets--and more importantly, the clubs--on Monday, January 21st. TheUntz.com is privileged to share the opener "Dreams," from the forthcoming, four-track album. Building ever so patiently, the kick and synths of this progressive house anthem thud in your chest and ring in your ears. The production quality and attention to detail are so stunning. This is definitely a tune to try in your headphones before taking out to the nightclub. The ebb and flow of the melody as it crashes into the climax are breathtaking, and Coast's sense of timing is impeccable. You haven't heard much from Mat Coast, yet, but things are about to change.

TINLICKER - REMEMBER THE FUTURE ALBUM RELEASE

Tinlicker, otherwise known as Black Sun Empire’s Micha Heyboer, returns April 22 with his first full-length solo album, Remember The Future.

The album will be released on Zero Three Zero, it’s a huge release, with 22 tracks plus two bonus cuts. It’s My First Time Here, released for free in December 2012, was the world’s first introduction to Micha Heyboer outside of his established DnB outfit, Black Sun Empire. Made up of Heyboer, his brother Milan and high school friend Rene Verdult, BSE are established purveyors of darkstep-fuelled drum n bass with five albums under their belts and a committed worldwide fanbase. Tinlicker’s sound is an exciting departure, but not a shocking one given Micha’s eclectic influences, from Paul Kalkbrenner and Trentemøller to Radiohead and Patrick Watson.

Tinlicker’s eclecticism shines through on Remember The Future. He shows his pop chops on Empty Skies, featuring soulful vocalist Tessa Rose Jackson, and an appreciation for acid techno on tracks like Drive Me Crazy and Let The Windows Open. From poptronica to progressive house and even a nod to 80s synthpop (on We Are Young ft. Morgan Jones) this album is a mixed bag of tricks to say the least, a real portfolio piece that shows his full capabilities as a producer outside of the DnB sphere.  

But it still retains something that is very specifically Tinlicker. Not so much a sound, although the dual threads of progressive and techno are certainly there. More like an ongoing theme, not easily quantifiable but present nonetheless. From the artwork inspired by Ted Hughes’ Iron Man to the child-like wonderment evoked with song titles like Milkshake and Cupcakes, Applejuice and Octopus Tree, the album is strangely reminiscent of Craig Raine’s 1979 poem A Martian Sends A Postcard Home, which describes everyday objects through the eyes of a being seeing them for the first time. The title, Remember The Future, sums it up neatly.
