Vhyce returns to Pets with more of his beautiful signature cosmic disco and his timing is exquisite. Making his debut on Catz & Dogz label earlier this year with 'One Day We'll Float', the release landed just at the right time as we all plummeted into a bleak new year.

Now as summer begins to open up again, and things look a little brighter, he returns with equally precision-timed sounds. With its sultry bassline and big romantic pads, 'Monde Réel' hits with a big dose of hope. Translating to 'real world', this is a homage to the future. And that positivity remains on 'Insieme'. This time translating to 'together', it's another moment of unity as Vhyce takes us up and down the scale in classic Q&A arpeggiated style. Soft, gentle but emotionally soaring; you can almost feel the hugs as the woozy synths roll out.

Always one for balance, Vhyce includes the much tenser and introspective 'Subdued' for those darker moments when unity and togetherness seemed so far away. Then Catz N Dogz close the show themselves with a startlingly bright and dreamy take on 'Monde Réel'. Hopeful, fun, wholesome feel-good electronic music. Because Vhyce makes it so damned well. And because we all deserve to float again.

Yazz, inspite of her intentions has shown me that “Up” is the only way. Taylor hands me a cashie, full of those Garys both sides of The Park adore.

He holds my hand as we dance, maybe too tightly. I find a door, off the floor.

No Malcolm Tucker, but jeez times have changed. This is a castle, and not Halton Castle. There is glamour, blanquettes and lacking Roger On The Door. 

Then, again, a bassline, and the same and different smiley faces from that canal side.

Mano Le Tough Returns to Maeve

Mano Le Tough is set to release his second 12inch on Maeve, the label he cofounded with Baikal and The Drifter in 2012. The label was born from the idea to release hypnotic dancefloor dedicated music, and this release certainly stays true to that. 

Big words from the small mouth arrives on the A side of Maeve 11 with quite the clatter. Searing synth jams scatter over a brooding kick/sub bass combo. The sharp crisp percussion drives the track forward all the time, while various bleets, squeals and swells develop throughout giving the track a raw rave vibe. 

Arganol on the flip is a trippy affair. Touching 9 mins long, this track feels like Mano Le Tough right from the outset, patient in its approach whilst slowly telling the listener its story. The narrative unravels through woozy melodies and melancholic cameos culminating in a burst of movement and energy perfect for the wee hours of a dancefloor.

In the studio the red lights flickered abruptly upon the various machinery. He had spent decades collecting obscurities and instruments of fortune, the bits and bobs from behind the scenes that no man would risk their money upon. Now within his tiny room he spent every single night jamming away at the meandering hardware in a robust attempt to bring it all back to life. Few from the outside world were familiar with his methodology or plans but soon they would be at the mercy of his mind and matter. 

DJ OIL returns to the infamous Lddlm with a three track EP of weighty prominence and abstract electronics. It would be unjust to simply describe them as dancefloor orientated but they work bloody well. Seek and you will find.

On the heels of the success of Tin Man’s - S_MPL_HOUSE EP Shaddock is proud to welcome another true master for the label’s fifth release: J.T.C.

Originally produced for Tim Sweeny’s ‘Beats in Space’ radio show the title track was heard in one of J.T.C’s DJ sets during a night out in Berlin and was signed to Shaddock on the spot. Heavy on the synths with a stirring bass-line and a driving 808, ‘Beats In Space’ is destined to shake-up every dance-floor.

Stepping up for his first ever remix duty is no other than Madteo of Meakusma, Workshop or Joy Orbison’s Hinge Finger fame, who added his unique signature of twisted, hypnotic left-field house, aptly titling his re-work 'Mad in Space’.

On the flip J.T.C showcases his more melodic side as well as his versatility as a producer. ‘The First Night Cycle’, feat. Ellis Monk is a metabolic track clocking in at eight minutes developing over time, all the while under-laid with James T. Cotton’s ceaseless heavy grooves.

‘Love Canopy And Vessels’ finishes this little gem in the best Detroit/ Chicago house fashion.

Boysʼ Shorts, the dance DJ & production duo founded by Vangelis, one half of
LAGASTA and electronic artist Tareq, have returned with their new EP, titled
“Together”. 

The EP includes two original tracks, one rework, and two fine remixes by the
likes of Munichʼs Benjamin Fröhlich co-founder of the ever-excellent Permanent Vacation imprint and Brazilian Berlin-based DJ and producer ROTCIV.

On the EPs opener “Sunset Flirt”, Boysʼ Shorts deliver an uplifting club-ready
tune rich in sparkling synth stabs. The result is a melody rich, synth-driven
beauty, in a late 80s romance dream. Next comes “Together”, which finds the
pair delivering a banger of a tune filled with vibrant synths and electro-tinged
beats. An addictive groover.

“Flirt Together” is a rework of the title track with elements of the “Sunset Flirt". A blend of synths and arpeggiators leading to a sublime beauty of a raveinfused slow burner. Benjamin Fröhlichʼs remix of “Sunset Flirt” is a more
upbeat and uplifting adaption of the original with a New Order-ish feel. A
carefree dancefloor delight. ROTCIVʼs remix of “Sunset Flirt” finds the Brazilian Berlin - based DJ and producer  infusing the tune with an extra dose of dancefloor power, delivering a five-minute peak-time heater.
