The lotus symbolizes the simultaneity of cause and effect. It blooms in muddy water, but this one is in dry sand. This piece explores my feelings surrounding someone who has been pursuing me pretty aggressively, obviously very into me, but emotionally withdrawn. Part of his heritage hails from from the furthest western reaches of the Orient, while part of mine is from the furthest eastern reaches. 

It's possible we have even orientalized and fetishized each other in this situation. 

This piece is also a reclamation of my own sensuality and identity after a codependent long term relationship which had a lot of sexual fawning on my part. Moving forward, I refuse to be used in that way. 

Situation update: he's a lying zio fuckboy POS I'm so mad lmao 

The music is a Phrygian dominant scale (typically West Asian) mixed with a Hirajoshi scale (Japanese).

Materials: Watercolor, paper, wood, sand, rubber band

Music: Original composition and mix. Ukulele with nylon low G, Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster, mixed with Pro Tools 

Didn't have a lot of time to check mix quality and only started picking a couple months ago so it's not amazing but I'm ok with it. I also don't know how to play the guitar but extrapolated from uke fingerings to get this result.
