The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work in Mumbai, aimed to create human service professionals to address the issues of unemployment and poverty in the context of the Great Depression of the 1930s. It was renamed ‘Tata Institute of Social Sciences’ in 1944, and in 1964 the Government of India (GoI) declared TISS as ‘Deemed to be a University’ under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956.

We are happy to announce that School of Vocational Education (SVE), Tata Insitiute of Social Science signed a MoU with Samagra Shiksha, Government of Maharashtra under the Maharashtra Young Leaders Aspiration Development Program (MYLAP) in Mumbai, on 21st September 2022.
The MoU was exchanged in the dignified presence of Shri Deepak Kesarakar, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and Ministry of Marathi Language, Government of Maharashtra. The MoU signing ceremony was also graced by Shri Ranjit Singh Deol (I.A.S.), Hon'ble Secretary, School Education and Sports Department, Shri Kailas Pagare (I.A.S) Hon'ble State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Prof. Madhushree Sekher, Dean, School of Vocational Education, SVE-TISS and Dr. Tania Shaw, Programme Head, SVE-TISS.
This association will help both TISS- SVE & Samghra Shiksha to work together for skilling the youth from Maharashtra. The work- integrated approach and association with 3750 industries partners located across India provides the opportunity for Industry linked skill education  and their employability
