Gushing Cloud is a musical artist currently residing in Chicago IL centered on the often-electronic and colorfully experimental beat-based music of Cory Bengtsen (also known as Gus Kumo when playing live,) yet incorporating various collaborators both musical and performance art-based. Beginning to record on samplers in 2004, Gushing Cloud has developed to include many instruments and musical approaches, resulting in the most current release, Beat Wings in Vain, with its uniquely organic and emotional electronic music.

The notoriously unpredictable and lavish live shows have largely been the work of “Doggy P. Lips” (half of the experimental art duo Dog Hallucination), incorporating multiple video installations, dancing, costumes, and other methods meant to shake the audience out of its usual mode. Currently incorporating other rotating collaborators for live shows, Gushing Cloud continues to explore the blurring of lines between electronic and organic music, humor and sobriety, friendliness and leaving uncompromising impressions.

The homegrown label of friends Intangible Cat has released GC’s recordings and various other projects that include Bengtsen, such as Amalgamated and Rebekah’s Tape. Cory is also the baritone saxophonist in the avant-prog-rock group Lovely Little Girls.
