✦ The Low Down ✦

One of our favourite dames of the Australian music industry, and a dear friend to the cause, Alaska Rees Williams aka LASK has provided one of the most "out of the box" live jams for your psychedelic tastebuds to savour on. 

Before moving to her current city of residence - Berlin, Lasky was absolutely rinsing it in Australia, playing at some of Melbourne's finest venues and festivals, capping her time off on our golden soils with a booking at the Mecca of Aussie Doofs, Rainbow Serpent Festival. 

Since moving to Berlin, Lask's taste quirky yet ballsy taste in music quickly evolved into a beast that is impossible to tame. Her experiences in sweat filled dungeons, sexed up basements with loud, soul thumping techno is now making it's way through her production and live jams. This SoundCast is a pure release of creative expression, a twisted psychoactive vision relayed through sounds, manipulated live by Lask. 

We hope you enjoy this set, it's boundary pushing as fuck and we know you will be all about it.

Here's the recording of my recent set for Handsdown and Leighboy's 9th edition of their 'DISCO 2000' party, Held at Bloom nightclub in Geelong. This was the opening set of the night of what was an incredibly wild party. And one of my favourite sets to date. I'm really hyped to be able to share this recording with everyone. Dan Abel is a renaissance man of the untz, and a pillar in Melbourne’s dance music community.

As one of the driving forces behind several successful music brands; Red Moon, Renegade, SixthSense and Live Presents, as well as the artist promotion company Around Town Australia, Dan has done much to make the scene a better place, all with the ultimate goal of making Melbourne’s scene the best in the world.

His work has also seen him become involved with other well established brands including Elysium Gathering, Enchanted Garden Party and Bush Techno. 

His passion for facilitating well-intentioned dance spaces has naturally lead him to delve deeper into the world of DJing. Influenced by the sounds of 80’s rock, blues, jazz and dubstep, Dan has become a shogun of eclectic selections with a broad taste throughout the musical spectrum, a versatile selector who navigates multiple genres and soundscapes. Dark disco, hypnotic techno, progressive house, deep tech, psychedelic - he can throw it all down. Although only in the early stages of his DJing career Dan has played at festivals throughout the country including Esoteric and Rabbits Eat Lettuce as well as some of Melbourne's most respected underground clubs. 

For this mix he takes listeners on a groovy journey through the spheres of deep tech and minimal house. Tune in and enjoy!

TOASTCAST VOL 25 - DAN ABEL

This weeks mix is very special for us, as it comes from a guy who was a massive driving force behind the inception of Proxima Frequencies. Having nurtured the talent of our collective and giving us a platform via Feather Print Records and the family, we're honoured to be able to give the same back to him.


Hugoe was born the youngest of three musicians.. So naturally, from an early age, music was a huge passion.

Since Hugoe discovered his love for electronic and dance music, he has traveled the extensively exploring ambient and natural landscapes to gather inspiration to create a soft and earthy atmosphere with his music, taking samples from environments he perceives inspirational to create the sound the that is Hugoe.
While living in Japan, Hugoe held residencies at multiple clubs, and played over 10 venues across Asia where he developed a liking for the heavier side of melodic house and techno music and began exploring a faster and darker sound which he nowadays seamlessly incorporates into his DJ Style, which is showcased in this mix. 

Another on the list of achievements for Hugoe, he reps the title of co-founder of Melbourne melodic house & techno label Feather Print Records, which strongly follows the ethos of backing local talent. 

Through years of chipping away at his craft, his talents haven't gone unnoticed and Hugoe has had the opportunity to support big names both on home turf in Melbourne and internationally, backing such names as Secret Cinema, Schlepp Geist, Loco & Jam, Takkyu Ishino, Francessca Lombardo, Shin Nishimura, Sander Markey, Sahar Z, D-Nox and others.

Intercept #36 - Hugoe

Volume 29 of the TOASTCAST is brought to you by Pharis. 

A South Korean techno producer, Pharis has been making a name for himself in the Australian music scene. He has released his productions through Melbourne techno label Machine, and has collaborated with fellow Korean producer Chanjo together as ‘Parallel 38’; as well as Melbourne producer Composite Cone to create notable EPs - such as ‘Red Alert’ and ‘Counterforce’. His work has also been released via the compilation album 'Believe in Freedom of Choice and Democracy' from Polish record label 999.

Pharis' brand of techno is deep, driving, and hypnotic - a unique sound which he has brought to MOTION Festival, as well as various secret raves + club dance floors around the city.

TOASTCAST VOL 30 - PETRA

The TOASCAST is back! We've decided to get our butts into gear and upgrade our toaster, discovering a new and improved model which will toast one mix a month for you to enjoy. Sounds like delicious cooked bread! 

Meet Ben Kennedy, who brings us the recipe for Volume 31. He is from Dublin, Ireland and has been living in Australia for 3 years. Ben has always had a huge passion for music. It started off by playing the guitar and drums as a kid and later transitioned into electronic music where the urge to learn how to DJ began. 

Ben has been DJ’ing for just under a year now and has had the pleasure of playing at Circus, Killing Time and a few other bars and clubs on the Southside of Naarm / Melbourne. 

Over the last year he has built up a fairly hefty vinyl collection with his main goal moving forward to play records all around Melbourne and share his love for house music.

His mix for us is a tasty one, perfectly toasted and garnished with spreads like house, breakbeat, acid and even some trancey elements thrown into the mix. Now that's some good TOAST!

UK born, Naarm/Melb based Anna B has been making waves in the local dance music scene as of late.

Brought up on the sounds of the 90s and old school UKG, these influences are evident throughout Anna's sets which are filled with inspired selections and bursting with energy.

Volume 33 of the TOASTCAST is brought to you by long time friend of the crew, JUGGY. 

Chris (aka JUGGY) has probably been to every single one of our events - always supporting the crew, and never missing a beat on the dance floor. After being a longtime punter, Chris took to learning the art of mixing during lockdown, and along came JUGGY. 

JUGGY has found his musical niche in the realms of deep, minimal and micro house. He loves hunting down these tracks from producers around the globe, recently linking up with a handful of local legends who share a similar passion for these deep and groovy sounds. 

His mix is expertly crafted and ebbs between micro and deep house, with a little tangent into breaks. That's enough from us though, we'll let the music do the rest of the talking. Enjoy! 🍞 xx

Handling our digital art, bookings, stage and lighting design as well as slowly pushing his way into the psychedelic world of techno as an artist.

With an obsession for production quality and it's synergy with the sensory experience of being human, Jack has found himself producing more and more of the deep, dark and mind melting sounds that you find with in psychedelic genres.
Consciousness is at the forefront of our experience, it's something about these unusual, alien sounds that reminds us that this music is pure thought and creativity from each producers mind.
These sounds are unmatched in the natural world, thus a direct stream of consciousness into an audible experience.

This episode brings you Joonmack's set from Bangboza; Our Australia day event held up on the waters edge of Lake Eildon.
Bangboza started with us bringing speakers and decks camping and eventually came to a head at the start of this year when we pulled together an amazing crew and really put our minds to making it something special.
