Days before the release of 2013’s YEEZUS, a traumatic visit to the Kardashian family farm inspires Kanye West to adopt a strict vegetarian lifestyle. He recruits legendary producer and health guru Rick Rubin to rework YEEZUS in its entirety, adding what West calls a “plant-based, cruelty-free” sound. While some of the original album survives Rubin’s edits, much of it is unrecognizable. Rubin suggests the album be renamed.
