Dust and Dreams in the Wild West:

Out where the sun burns the prairie dry, A lonesome wind howls a mournful cry. With a saddle for a pillow, and a gun by my side, I ride through the shadows where the outlaws hide.  
The cattle are restless, the trail’s long and mean, A man’s gotta fight for the life he’s seen. Through rattlesnake canyons and rivers of stone, The Wild West chews the flesh from the bone. 


Oh, the West is a devil with a heart of sand, Steals your dreams right outta your hand. Dust in my throat, and blood in my boots, Livin’ ain’t easy ‘neath these gnarled roots.
But I’ll ride, oh I’ll ride, ‘til my story’s told,
In the Wild West, where the brave grow old.


The saloon doors swing with a whiskey glow, Where gamblers cheat and the bullets flow. A dollar’s a fortune, a coffin’s cheap, And the preacher’s prayin’ for souls to keep.  
The law’s just a badge on a crooked man, Justice rides swift with a hangman’s plan.
Blizzards in winter, drought in July,
Half the herd’s lost ‘fore the stars touch the sky.

The ghosts of the miners whisper through the pines, Gold fever broke ‘em on them jagged lines. The Pony Express runs ‘til the horses drop, And the widow weeps when the guns don’t stop.


Indians shadow the hills at dawn,
A treaty’s a promise ‘til the trust is gone. The barbed wire’s risin’, the open range fades, A cowboy’s life lost to progress’s blade. But still I ride with the tumbleweed’s call, Through sagebrush and sorrow, I’ve seen it all.
The Wild West ain’t kind, but it’s where I’m free, A hard-livin’ soul, that’s the man in me.
