This is one of two vocal charts with big band that I wrote for the new Two o' Clock.  Originally written for Marlene verPlank up in NYC, this features Marion Powers on vocals!  This is meant to remind you of the classic Basie tradition and how they treated standards with singers.  Hope you enjoy!

The first single from Dunham Records in-house, all male, backing vocal quartet, The Sha-La-Das, conjures up the memory of a stolen first kiss - a whispered, forbidden vow of young love under the boardwalk at Coney Island. It's layered with sunny melodies that intoxicate, while the haunting undercurrent slowly pulls you in, like standing on the shoreline at dusk mid-July. The Sha La Das have been one of the secret ingredients in the recordings of the last two Charles Bradley albums (Victim of Love, Changes). They've been blips on the radar of keen-eared music enthusiasts for some time now, both as a group and separately.
