Konsoll is a game developers conference in Bergen, Norway. Each october it gathers about 400 participants from the norwegian and international game developing scene. Konsoll is designed to inspire and inject self confidence and pride into the veins of the independent game developing community.

This anthem was composed on commision from Konsoll in 2016. 

Inspired by the norwegian folk lore and folk music from the 19th. century it aims to tell the story of the hard working game developers. 

Together they set out on a long and hard journey.
Making a game is to take on a big quest. The hope, inspiration,  and enthusiasm fuels the mindful and labour-intensive  craftmanship involved.  The team joins forces from all disciplines. 2d and 3d art, sound, design, storytelling, game design, animation, programming and buisiness. 

On this journey they are bound to meet trials and failure. Great dangers can arrive at any moment. Some games will never be made. Their development will be canceled.

But, having strong believes and a will to make it, the game developers of Norway does not give up. As Tim Schafer from Double Fine Studios said in the conference: "It all will work out, not always as you plan it to work out, but it will work out".

Rising up from the burnt remains of the failed attempt, the team learns from their experience and mistakes. They set on for a new journey. Making their second game. This time they still will face hard challenges. And this time they will succeed. Their second game is released and all the love and hard work put into it can now be enjoyed by the public.

Konsoll2016 - Anthem

Kalimba Ritual was a speed composition, and a speed production. During Bergen Game Jam 2016, it had to be speedy, as it was supposed to be used in a small video game that was put together in 48 hours. (http://bergengamejam.org)

Composed and recorded within 30 hours - thanks to the super Isabel Maria Oboe, Erlend Thinn Solheim (Clarinet) and Kim Systad (Marimba). 

And also a big thanks to Vegard Ellingsen who recorded it and mixed it.
