This song is a part of a 2 song collection called 'Middle Of The Tunnel'. I wrote these songs at a time when I was riddled with anxiety about everything going on in the world and I felt like there was darkness around me, like I was in the middle of a tunnel, but I was also hopeful that if I kept writing and moving forward, I would come out of the tunnel and see the light again...

'Emptiness Inside'... I wrote this during George Floyd's trial. It's from the perspective of a person who lost a loved one when they didn't have to. The statement ' With everything going on in the world right now' came to my mind and I realized that it has been on my mind since college when I cried after hearing about the Orlando gay nightclub shooting in 2016. Covid may have been a natural disaster, but Hate is of our making, and we MUST hold ourselves to better standards, become better people. So I hope we never have to light candles on the streets again. 'Emptiness Inside' is both a call for justice and a reminder that we'll see our loved ones again...

In the last couple of months, things only seem to be getting worse. But we will see "the light at the end of the tunnel" since it's the "Middle Of The Tunnel" that's darkest. We will have peace in the world soon because we will not rest until all of us can live and breathe free from fear.

Emptiness Inside

I wrote 'Fly Away Birdy' during the second wave of Covid in India, when I think all of us were terrified and anxious to save not just our loved ones but the strangers on social media requesting hospital beds and oxygen cylinders, etc. Writing this song was cathartic for me and helped me calm myself so that I could keep helping people without being overwhelmed. I wanted to remember the hope we all held on to then, the hope we still hold on to and will never let go, that the world will be better, we will get through all of this and build a future of unity, love, and tenacity...
