Liminal

As anyone who's been to a Nordic country in the summer will tell you, there's a certain magic in the temperate air that you only get from a place that is cold and dark for most of the rest of the year. That probably goes some way towards explaining how a country like Sweden produces some of the sunniest music around, whether we're talking about pop or underground dance. Since she debuted on Stockholm label Studio Barnhus in 2018, Bella Boo has been at the forefront of this sound, making clever, fun and joyous house music on records like Once Upon A Passion, where pop instincts embed into deep house grooves.

Bella Boo's RA Podcast both highlights her distinct personality and also the sound of Stockholm in full summer bloom, featuring local producers like Kornél Kovács, Axel Boman, Genius Of Time and Samo DJ. It's full of catchy basslines, hooky vocal snippets, luxurious melodies and plenty of brilliant transitions. It's kind of like listening to one of her records: a restless and kaleidoscopic approach to house, where the rhythms shift and a new earworm is always around the corner. Bella Boo has all the makings of a star, and this mix feels like another step in her impressive rise.

Truckupidööm is rolling on basalt stones with an hypnotic inertia of a sensual mileage.
The pleasures of trembling releases from her body plastic and more plastic, spring and another spring, metal and another metal.
She sheds the industry’s father from herself and turns to mother earth, to the sand hall, to the whistles of camels, to the reddish threshold where sunrises are a burning fire, and silence is an azure eternity.

Label heads Olsvangèr and MYKI entrusted with the 11th installment of Tofistock.
5 spooky desert rollers to resonate the grounded dragon.

‘This is a personal homage to several genres we wanted to unite.
something between oldskool house, mediterranean magic, progressive trance, and jazz; nostalgia through the dusty roads.

This set was recorded in the National Park of Circeo on the 24.8.22 a few meters away from the Tyrrhenian Sea. There were 60 people audience lying on the sand, a few candles and a 4+1 Turbosound system.
I played my own productions including a few unreleased tunes.
Thanks to "Le Passeggiate Poetiche" and Exotique.it for making this possible.
Hope you enjoy the ride same as we did on that night.

OPIA’s sister label Euphoric State reports back to duty with ‘Evolutionary Perspective’ from veteran producers, Relative Progress. The four tracker consists of two remastered cuts from their sought after ‘Illustrated Primer’ EP back in ‘96 and on the flip two recent productions made this year. 

Quite notably some of their finest work ‘Getting There’ opens the EP with its signature bleeps, and progressive structure. An urgent and driven track of the past, that without maybe realising you will be familiar with. ‘Heart ‘N’ Soul’ releases the energy tension, a more mellow cut with rippling pads and dreamy attention to detail. 

Kicking off the modern productions is the Detroit-esque ‘Be Real’, a slick and deep alternative to the A side, smooth hi-hats melt into the bouncy organ arrangement. Rounding off the EP is a hazy late night jazz vibe entitled ‘U Got Me Into This’, winding down proceedings in style, as you would imagine from the long term producers. 

Another well rounded EP on Euphoric state, dedicated to melding futuristic sounds of the past and present.
