We proudly like to present to you our first full on Various Artists compilation on one of our beloved media - Music Cassette.  We collected bits of bouncing Electro, celestial Trance, fluid Breakbeats and in between for heavy rotation and impact on the dance floors of today and tomorrow.  Dig out your walkman and activate the Mega Bass, or clean the tape heads of your deck with a Q-Tip and press the Dolby button.  The hiss is calling. Full force Warning experience copied to magnetic tape to represent the retro future sound of Berlin on two sides.

Rest seemed such an unfamiliar word these days, life moved at a 100 miles per hour with no respite or time to take stock. When one thing ended another started, the mind was constantly flooded with information and given little chance to absorb it all. The tasks were never ending and the willingness to complete them continued to evaporate; would there ever be a chance to slow down and simply switch off?

Amsterdam’s traumgarten have called on friends and family for a new compilation to raise money for three charities doing important work in their respective fields. “An ode to parallel universes, dormant desires, and all the unexplored paths of our finite existence”, the 21 track release marks the label’s second benefit release. Titled ‘Virgin Forest’, the compilation brings together the likes of Job Sifre, upsammy, Ineffekt & Nazanin Noori, who explore the cosmic corners of the electronic spectrum, touching on ambient, bass, percussive rhythms, acid and much more. 

All proceeds will be split between three organisations: Alianza Arkana, a grassroots organization committed to the protection, development and wellbeing of the Peruvian Amazon and the indigenous Shipibo-Konibo peoples; Everyday Refugees, a foundation that aids refugees, local communities, and people internally displaced by war; and Bridges Over Borders, a community-based collective offering support to BIPoC, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalised individuals fleeing Ukraine.

Her mind was neither here nor there today; everything had become a big mush of half-finished tasks, immediate deadlines and last minute responsibilities. Trying to put them into some kind of decipherable order was a task in itself, one that would require an amount of focus and concentration that she couldn't muster up at this precise moment. For now, her thoughts would have to remain a tangled web, a scramble of words and memories all chucked in the blender and jumbled beyond recognition. 

Hot on the heels of a release from label boss Furious Frank, Adelaide-based label Mind Dance call on the skills of a veteran of the Australian electronic music scene, Andy Rantzen. Active since the early 90s, both solo and as part of the duo Itch-E and Scratch-E alongside Paul Mac, the Sydney hailing producer follows releases for the likes of 4-4-2 Music, Efficient Space and Ken Oath with Return To The Source, a seven-track album of recordings made between 1997 and 2020. Crafted using his hardware set up, the music is raw, stripped back, deep and percussive, touching on machine funk, electro and house.

Jealous Hours is the first full-length LP by the Tel-Aviv based DJ & producer Lily Haz. Featuring nine genre-bending tracks in her distinctive electro-dub style, the project playfully emphasizes & recontextualizes the role of sampling using cinematic references to nineties cult songs & movies.

“I’m a rapper!” says the kid to the cop. “Oh you’re a rapper? Oh, ok… Be cool, stay in school” the cop condescently replies.

Thanks to her unique approach to production, Lily takes us for a tour in her obscure, ethereal universe where hip hop’s supremacy is undisputed. Flirting with the club realm while fearlessly determined in her style, each of one of her core influences is essential to this parallel universe. Out there, pitched-down rap verses top obscure beats and rolling liquid jungle drums ; extended intros and outros riffle through the whole spectrum of human emotion. From anger to the puzzling humoristic dialogues she creates by toying with her own layered vocals or memphis rap samples, one cannot help but let himself dive into this ethereal consciousness outburst.

The ticking of the clock resounded around the room, its monotonous sound made it difficult for him to concentrate on his own thoughts. He shifted his attention to the other people in the room, and tried to scan their faces for feelings, thoughts and emotions. Nobody gave anything away; their expressions were unreadable and unaffected, as though they were all hiding something from the world. He wondered what their stories were, where they'd come from and where they were going, but he'd never find out the answers, speculation would have to serve his curiosity. 

A lover of hip hop, Lily Haz's releases are characterised by samples and off-kilter beats but with her own unique, personal touch. On singles and EPs for the likes of Night Noise, Stamp The Wax and her regular home Tofistock, she's demonstrated her knack for blurring the boundaries between genres, fusing elements of electro, dub, experimental, trip hop and ambient. For her long-awaited debut album she takes cues from nineties songs and films, playing with the art of sampling to fashion a collection of nine tracks that take us on a trip through hypnotic atmospheres, lo-fi beats and weirdo rap verses.

Leck Meine Bahn - they are back! These two space cadets bring back home some heavy radiated elements from outer space. After a two year odyssey, they return back to mother earth with an insane Live Set (Backslash Festival 2022) and a Battery Point EP full of blasting fusion energy. Their musical capsule comes packed with new textures, mixed up with an unholy but tasty reduction of Jungle and Trance substances melting with a fusion of Bass Music and industrial space chugs.
This cosmologic sound match is leading to a new co-dependency between gravity and bass. Their enigmatic grooves are ponderous yet playful and every alien ear which listened to this intergalactic call so far, could not escape this quirky dance atmosphere. Brainwaves music commanders aka LMB are Estebahn and Yolek and this composition is their second EP which results to an extension of new boundaries in our further rave solar system. Including two massive remixes by Jan Loup and Nuevo Prohibido to beam up every sort of flesh to the the next bass portal. Space alert!

Open Culture: No Borders is a campaign demonstrating solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers, as an ongoing response to the UK government’s ‘Hostile Environment Policy’. The policy has involved a slew of regressive legislations, intended to create a deliberately challenging environment for migrants to settle. In the process, we are seeing cruel approaches to the treatment of refugees and asylum seekers, the use of provocative language intended to create division and the adaption of laws which offer protection of human rights for all.
