Dj Surgeles is here again with his orchestra of bleeps and abstract grooves that we love so badly. Five exercises of music from the future, delivered with care and sense, bringing us to unknown dimensions never touched by humans.
 
Philokalist sets on the spaceship’s engine, solitary bleeps to begin with and when unexpectedly a super busy 909 rhythm takes control. Add super reverberated Fx and spacious washes and, suddenly, you are out there in the galaxies.
 
Beams and Rays is like translating a black hole into sound, phrenetic but meditative at the same time, ideal to put the dancefloor into tension, to expect the unexpected.
 
Frames of Time uses synthetic pads to create the required tension, the groove here is broken and shuffled, non conventional at all, Surgeless is a master of this discipline, we all know that.
 
Act of Valor goes non linear, with all the sonic components somehow disassembled, being the 4/4 the compass to guide it all. Another voyage into the future.
 
Last cut Melodie du Nature brings combat techno to the soundtrack, fast, punchy but as always spiced with lots of alien sounds that are never the same.

As Token gears up for its 126th release, the time has come to invite a label favorite - Inigo Kennedy. The Englishman responsible for Token 1 readies us for three tracks of pure grain and warbling melodies packaged as 'The Calling' - a hypnotic yet stomping club record that highlights his unique production style full of character.

Taking up the entirety of the A side, 'Magnitude Seven' pulses itself through the first part of the ep. Melodic yet dissonant as many of Kennedy's best records, the track calls on a stripped down acid line to support a saturated groove and noisy synthwork. Epic in construction, 'Magnitude Seven' comes in waves of unsettling intensity emphasized by a powerful double kick sequence. The B1 takes it up a notch as the title track appropriately named 'The Calling'. A frantic four to the floor rhythm pushes along sustained notes, settling in a certain pressure. Harmonic sections breathe more life in an otherwise nail biting record that defines the Token sound accurately and Kennedy uses this arrangement to distance himself from the classic loop based template used by most producers in his field today, confirming the ongoing relevance of a longstanding career in club music. Ending with a bit of a twist for most, longtime fans will be unsurprised by the choice to wrap things up with 'Out of the Woods' - a fitting electronica closer that departs from 'The Calling' with a focus on introspection. Drifting notes and a shuffled percussion line are reminiscent of his UK roots and fit perfectly as an epilogue to his previous techno tracks. Ethereal as ever, Inigo Kennedy offers us another masterclass in out of the box production techniques in soulful electronic music.

'Bloom' kicks off the EP with a delightful collision of solid rhythm and crystalline shards of melody before 'Kairotic' goes for the jugular with its almost disorientating swirling lead. 'Spiralling' brings a lovely slice of chunky wonkiness before title track 'Hiraeth' lands with its wistful yet hopeful yen. Asymmetric head Inigo Kennedy returns to his label with a much anticipated five track EP 'Ghost Reaction'.

'Limerence' opens the EP in a confident mood with a solid four-to-the-floor beat, burbling acid and Detroit-tinged chords which bring a playful tension as the track progresses. Second up, is the title track 'Ghost Reaction', a powerful, bass-heavy and shuffling beast that is juxtaposed with a typically assured Kennedy melody. 'Obsession' centres the release with its undulating wash and electro-like beat set against wistful, delicate tones. 'Splinters' brings the mystery with shards of gritty swirling frequencies and a heavy-hitting Asymmetric double-kick beat. Closing the EP is 'Cold Sweat' which takes the tempo down a notch but keeps the intensity up with its solid kick, metallic pulsing and acid-like bass fluctuations. Dig in!

'Isolated States' grinds the EP into gear in an upbeat way with yearnful drones and sprinkles of sonic dust and percussive punctuation before 'Reaching' introduces washes of evolving spacious sound over a steady heartbeat kick. Asymmetric main man Inigo Kennedy returns to his label with a diverse five track EP 'Radical Trust'.

Opening the EP is 'Chrysalism', driven by solid 909 kicks and toms, sprinkled with hats and layered with delicate melody and an occasional bass emphasis. Second track 'Kenetic' brings pure minimalist techno joy with its undulating organ pulses before 'Pitter-Patter' with its curious combination of dystopian and hopeful textures. Title track 'Radical Trust' is up next and sees Kennedy firing off in a Drum & Bass direction, showcasing a beautiful juxtaposition in sound design so typical of Asymmetric, heaviness, glitchiness and optimism.
