Dark, hypnotic techno built on global percussion, sub-heavy drive, and cinematic atmosphere. Each track is a journey — pulsing 4/4 kicks, ancestral log drum echoes, metallic stabs, and haunting drones stretching through infinite warehouse space.

This series fuses Amapiano swing, Durban Gqom weight, and relentless techno pressure — layered with whistles, tribal shakers, and whooshing bass that breathes like an air hangar moving air. Minimal melodies rise and dissolve into haze, while percussion locks bodies into trance.

These aren’t just tracks — they’re rituals. Industrial rhythm fused with ancestral memory. A soundscape made for late-night festivals, underground basements, and movement without end.

Inigo Kennedy has been with Token since the beginning. With a strong existing catalog stretching back to the 90s, Kennedy produced the first Token release from a place of confidence, with an EP of bold and dark, yet playful and seriously storming techno tracks. Since then he has been consistent in delivering a succession of releases that are always surprising, but instantly recognisable as fitting with his own polished sonic identity. This impressive body of work includes the full-length LP Vaudeville, in which he explored the many facets of his abilities as a producer, from atmospheric heights of ambience to murky and claustrophobic pacing grooves.

Now for Token 62, his double A-side NGC EP continues with a theme originating from the final track on Vaudeville, delving into the aesthetics of the interstellar clouds of Cygnus and Draco. The EP as a whole is swelling, melodic and subtle, with the AA-side NGC6543 named after the ‘Cat’s Eye’ nebula, taking its time with warm crescendos and crisp splashes of percussion to activate a meridian body response. NGC6826 (Blinking Eye) pulsates with a broken beat, the rhythm just pausing for a classic melancholic refrain before returning to force for its finale.

TOKEN62 - Inigo Kennedy - NGC EP

Field Records label embarks on a new mini trilogy of EPs that will present a magical journey through modern-day trance. First up in the series is Artefakt with their three track effort The Final Theory. Dutch producers Robin Koek and Nick Lapien make up Artefakt, and between them they excel at moody voodoo music on labels like Delsin and Field. 

They open this latest EP with the title track, a deep, spacious house roller with subtle pads and gentle acid that perform slow motion acrobatics for nearly ten minutes. It is suspensory, dreamy music that works on the head as well as the heel. Moving Horizon is then less doleful and introspective but just as deep, with sweeping pads add a sense of scale, busy drums bring the dynamism and icy percussive sounds adding a sense of urgency. Last but not least, Solaris is a fatter, more physical groove with claps and gloopy bass, acid flashes and trancey pads all fleshing out a lush and deep electro workout. This is heavenly stuff that cannot fail to get inside your head and heart.

Inigo Kennedy’s relationship with Token spans the label’s existence. He set the mood for what was to come from the very first release: A refined, yet courageous excursion, instantly recognisable as fitting with his own sonic identity, cultivated over many years of experience. This sound has become definitive in the context of Token’s output ever since. After his previous contribution earlier this year, a record thematically obsessed with a line of obscure interstellar clouds, he’s back with another double A-side for our next release.
 
Surrender begins with a textured awakening. The intermixture of slow swells and attentively-dashed accents in a range of timbres guides us blindly towards a shocking, strident interruption when the percussion is suddenly introduced with full and resolute force. As the track continues Kennedy makes sense of the unexpected jolt on our behalf, and the two opposing inclinations become one. 
 
Castles In The Air retains a similar theme, with the kind of self-awareness that only a producer of Kennedy’s level of maturity can employ. Gloomy, lingering chords begin and then pause, forcing us to wait expectantly, with more than a moment lingering in reverb. When the full arrangement appears, it kicks at least twice as hard as the introduction could ever have prepared us for.

For this instalment she`s compiled remixes by Insolate, Kwartz, Sstrom and Belief Defect. The resulting EP „The Tortoise And The Eagle“, explores the spectrum between hallucination and function, industrial soundscape and dance floor drive.
