Reclaim Your City unveils second compilation, ‘Heimat II’, featuring Arkan, Decka, Yant & Hitam.

April 2023 saw Dutch techno powerhouse Reclaim Your City debut its ‘Heimat’ compilation featuring Marcal, Nicolas Volger, Hurdslenk and Ruben Ganev. Now, the label returns with the second instalment to a new series of compilations with ‘Heimat II’, welcoming Arkan, Decka, Yant, and Hitam for the first time.
“Zeitgeisty by nature, the approach chosen for these VAs is to document state-of-the-art productions from lesser-known and emerging figures whose skills and talent we firmly believe in. An extension of our creed that techno is there to push boundaries and not reiterate the same bland assertions over and over, ad nauseam, “Heimat” shall form a shelter for top-of-the-range material and that exclusively, regardless of the producer’s fame, level of fashionability and/or market-friendliness.” - Reclaim Your City

Hypnotic techno mastermind Arkan is up first with the haze-like ‘Submarine’, in which cavernous sonar pings echo through vast aquatic depths, the track’s steady rhythm propelling forward. ‘Circumvent’ by SPE:C’s Decka is next, this time with a slower groove juxtaposed with fast-paced, liquid-like acid bubbling through its tough drum work.

On the B-side, the deservedly hyped Yant presents ‘Moving’. Its machine-funk of the highest order with elements rooted in dub, sequences dancing playfully on top of an intricate groove before Eerste Communie resident Hitam takes the reins with ‘Venusian Wind’. Glitching drums carve their way through monstrous droning low-end, its rolling soundscape creating a perfect, enthralling finish to another quality compilation from the RYC crew.

The seventh Various Artists release on Mary Yuzovskaya’s Monday Off imprint arrives on vinyl in October 2024, with Yuzovskaya, Viels, ORBE, and D-Leria contributing tracks. It follows ‘VA Vol. 6’, which featured Blazej Malinowski, Michal Wolski, Xhato & Milena Glowaka, and won support from artists like Chris Liebing, re:ni, Gigi FM, and more. First up on the record, Italy’s End Of Perception founder Viels conjures up a storm with ‘Nero’, a cerebral cut with crushing, low-end-heavy atmospheres and mysterious alien signals. It is followed by Spanish techno lynchpin and Orbe Records boss ORBE, whose hypnotic ‘Rigging’ explores the abyss with foreboding sonics and a continual beep sequence that guides the track forward. On the B-side, Monday Off label head Mary Yuzovskaya presents ‘Trouble’. A masterful bassline and bodied kickdrum starts the trip, providing an excellent foundation while alternating between rattling percussion, deep dub hits, and strangely familiar but indecipherable vocal snippets. Sound design wizard D-Leria then closes out the EP with the spellbinding ‘Battito’, complete with mind-blowing melodies and swirling effects, rounding off another top-draw psychedelic offering on Monday Off. ON007 comes courtesy of shadowy producer Cliche Morph. Hailing from Belarus, the young, low-profile artist created some buzz by his stand-out track "Overwhelming Fear" from last year's Semantica compilation Index. Part One. The immaculately produced ON007 proves that track wasn't a fluke and solidifies his status as a talent to keep an eye on. The Fanon Flowers remix is the cherry on top.

Best known for his ambient excursions as Voices From The Lake alongside Donato Dozzy, Neel joins Token with the 4-track Calcata for Token 76. From his collaborations with Dozzy to his solo work for their joint-run label Spazio Disponibile, Neel's studio experience as a mastering engineer has gained him recognition as a producer who pays great attention the technical aspects of his sound. 

The title track falls within our expectations of exquisite ambience, with fluid, rhythmic mids and a delicate interplay of organic and unnatural noise in the high end. The opening shuffling hats in Re. Vox cement the release firmly in Token territory, while the staggered exaggeration of a synth line falters between beats and more crafted waves of noise increase the stress. Bassiani evokes its Georgian namesake in hypnotic bliss, while Treja's murky bass follows a dizzying theme overhead.

Cisco Ferreira’s seminal techno act The Advent returns to Ben Klock’s imprint in September with three distinctly turbo-charged cuts, following his release on the label’s 22nd instalment in 2018.

A pioneer of early British techno, the London-based producer began his career in the halls of the legendary Jack Trax label as a sound engineer, going on to produce cutting edge releases on imprints R&S, Tresor and Transmat. This latest Klockworks release relinquishes the sparse energy of The Advent’s live sets from the 90’s with these previously unreleased timeless live recordings. Favouring off-kilter percussion and warbled bass, all three strike hard with a distorted and visceral energy.
