I've been listening to a lot of Virtual Self lately. While at first listen I found the EP to be way too DDR for a kid whose eureka dance song was Leave The World Behind rather than Sandstorm, when I kept listening, the EP revealed a lot more Porter than I first noticed. Porter Robinson has been an inspiration for me throughout his musical career because of how good his is at doing the unexpected. He can take a sound that I don't know I'm into and master it so well that I can't get enough of it. That's what Virtual Self is - it creates a sense of nostalgia for a music I never felt nostalgic about. That's where this reboot comes in. I wanted to infuse my own sense of nostalgia into what Porter created. I never sorted Beatport by release date and listened to every trance song from 1998 to 2003, but I have listened to a lot of progressive and electro house fusion. So I rarely make music like this, but I combined my own nostalgia with Porter's nostalgia and got something that I think is pretty cool. Enjoy.
