A traditional orchestral piece composed in 2019 as a tribute to my mother, Lucy DeSisto, whose long life, well lived, was a cause for celebration, a Reason to Dance.  She passed away on January 21, 2020.

This piece will be part of the Diamond Dance Festival's annual presentation in 2023.

“Bloodstream” is hybrid composition encompassing several musical genres. The primitive flute and percussion that begin the piece give way to a jazz-fusion tinged cello solo which evolves to an orchestral dynamic crescendo.  Although this track was wholly created using synthesizers and samplers it would be possible to involve live performers on flute, cello, brass and percussion against a prepared electronic track. 
“Bloodstream” was written expressly for Linda Diamond and Company to be used for their 2023 season.

“1924” was originally written in 2009 for a film about NYC which was never finished.   I was asked to compose a piece that sounds “Gershwin-esque” and 1924 was the result.  As you can hear, it is also an exercise in traditional orchestration and, although it is realized by sampled instruments, all of the parts could be played by real players if the budget allowed.

“1924” was also used by Linda Diamond and Company back in 2010 for the choreographed piece entitled “Cuisine Flambe”.  The original dance was performed on ice skates!

The Lover

This hybrid orchestral/electronic composition was created for choreographer Linda Diamond and the Woodstock Diamond/Sokolow dance festival in 2005.  The troupe has since performed the choreography to Breath, Body, Birth several times to some acclaim.

Sometime In The 20th Century

Tom Desisto is an accomplished composer, producer, sound designer, guitarist, arranger, and engineer working out of the Desisto Music studio in Woodstock, NY.  After studying composition with Mario Davidovsky, Miriam Gideon, and Stanley Persky, orchestration with Jan Meyerowitz, and jazz guitar with Barry Galbraith, Tom went on to make a name for himself in many different areas of the music business.  His credits include two Emmy nominations and range from serious music, jazz, rock, pop, dance, and children’s records to music of all types for film, advertising, and theater.
