Spencer Ray Woods AkA WoodburN is from the City of Trees (Boise Idaho). WoodburN is hip-hops best-kept secret and at 36 he has a gift for lyrics that are unmatched in the rap game. WoodburN came from humble beginnings. His musical roots started out in coral music and with learning to play the violin at the age of 8 years old. After high school WoodburN had the opportunity to be apart of two metal bands; Basement and Evologic. These experiences taught WoodburN the work ethic he prides himself on today. WoodburN had the opportunity to tour all over the Northwest, Nevada, and California. 
If you ask him, WoodburN would tell you that he has been at this a long time. Even during his metal days he was writing his own lyrics. After the members of Evologic went their own ways, WoodburN hid himself away and started writing. It wasn’t until 2014 that WoodburN did his first solo hip hop show. ProHos live, on YouTube, was just the beginning of WoodburNs hip-hop career. 
If you spend much time with WoodburN you learn quickly that music fuels the burn in his passion. Passionate is an understatement when describing this talented emcee. Ambitious, practiced, dedicated, intelligent, technical, and diverse are some of the more common adjectives used when describing this well rehearsed forest fire. Each track WoodburN puts together is carefully and strategically chosen. With fire at the forefront, this anomaly will captivate your ears. 
On May 24th 2015 WoodburN decided to begin his push into Boise. Since that time he has dropped his first mixtape known as “aFireFuelStixTape.” This was a lifelong dream for WoodburN.  In August of 2015 WoodburN took a major leap, putting in a home studio, and began honing his skills as a studio worthy emcee. No more heating and cooling for this man who had made a career of HVAC. WoodburN will tell you how grateful he is for the blessings in his life and he does not take one second for grated. WoodburN took the opportunity and is now on the journey of self trained post production and engineering. This man works tirelessly to better himself as an artist and a man. Fast forward 6 months and he is holding writing classes with the elite and rookies alike. WoodburN’s dream has always been to run a music school. 
WoodburN has had the opportunity in the last 8 month to check more items off his bucket list. Organizing and putting on his first annual birthday bash was just the first of many. Artists local as well as national have invited WoodburN to open for them. BluePrint, LockSmith, Nappy Roots, RA The Rugged Man, Andre Nickatina, and Tech N9ne will go down in history as unforgettable experiences; not only for performance reasons, but connecting with veteran emcees he has highly respected for decades. On February 14, 2016 WoodburN put out his second mixtape known as “HeartBurN: aSmokefuelStiixTape.” Self-produced, mixed, and mastered, this project became one of the biggest milestones WoodburN has smashed to this day.  
In the Spring of 2016 WoodburN decided to expand his fan base and move to Southern Montana, where he currently resides. Adding Moods of the Madison, Harvest Fusion, Shine 8, and Interchange Symposium to his musical resume of festivals; 2017 is sure to create an even larger canvas to set ablaze.  
When WoodburN looks at the future, there are no limits.  Hard work, longevity, and dedication are what WoodburN prides his life on. With no surface writing allowed, WoodburN challenges emcees to prefect their craft.

Keep Moving....Slow music is for old people!

After years of promoting local artists and creating a vital community of musicians in Western Montana, local legend Hannibal Hayes, better known as the multifaceted lyricist and producer Lecture, has labored tirelessly as founder of Bitter Roots Recordings to continue his cultivation of independent music in the Missoula, Montana scene.  Despite collaborations across multiple genres, the versatility and depth of Hayes’s dark and orchestral compositions have remained mysterious to those unfortunate enough to not bear witness to his dynamic live performances.  It’s a mystery that Lecture's high-octane production values and lyrical precision solve without hesitation.

To pigeonhole, or merely articulate, Lecture’s textured output is difficult to accomplish in words.  His early catalog has channeled the ragged metal stylings of Lamb of God or the industrial churn of Static-X into electronic and hip-hop production, collaborating with the experimental (and, in the author’s estimation, handsome) likes of Mr. Moo (Milo Hayden).  Such aggressive and headbang-worthy musical dimensions nonetheless incorporate the lyrical dramatics of Tech N9ne, enhanced with the earworm hooks of Timbaland’s most luxurious sounding output.  Utilizing an eclectic knowledge of guitar, keyboards, and symphonic instrumentation in his compositional duties for Bitter Roots Recordings artists Sh, Ramble, and Bohemian Trap City, Lecture’s output strives for the same prodigious accomplishments as Hans Zimmer or Danny Elfman.  It’s little secret why Bitter Roots Recordings has achieved such an immediate and organic rise: community members from all walks of music creation believe in the vision of the project’s leader.  That leader is Hannibal Hayes, but when he’s on stage, you surely know him as Lecture.
